Admissions Forum Guidelines

Welcome to the TheologyWeb Community. Here in the Admissions Dept. we welcome all the newcomers. This section is only for welcome posts to announce the arrival of a new resident. Be sure to be welcomed or introduce yourself if our welcome committee is slacking.

Forum Rules: here

Wow! You made it! Here you are in the Admissions and Orientation Department of Tweb! This is where the rubber first hits the road; where the pedal first hits the metal; where the nuts come out of the woodwork to make sure you feel at home here.

The Admissions area is only for welcome posts to announce the arrival of a new inmate resident, and we encourage you to leave here and head out into the great big wide world of Tweb as soon as you feel comfortable in your new username.

Be sure to reply to your welcome thread, or introduce yourself if our welcome committee is out to lunch or painting their living room.

  • How Do I Expand Notifications?

I would like to be notified when someone responds to one of my posts. I know it is possible because I set that on similar forums before, but I am having trouble finding the option here.

I used to get email notifications for all the threads I was subscribed to. Since the big crash that has not been the case, even though I have that option selected in my settings.

We so badly need to get the new site up and running.

If you go to your settings page and find, on the left side, general settings, then scroll down to messaging and notification, the second option in that area is "default thread subscription".

The pull down there gives you options for notifications, but, as I said, instant emails doesn't work for me.

I'll give that a try, thanks.

I was actually hoping for notifications in my forum inbox since I try to keep my emails clear as much as possible.

I just click the settings at the top of the page when I visit tweb and it takes me to the page that shows all of my subscribed threads that have new posts in them.

          http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/usercp.php

if you click the little blue circle next to the thread title in the listing, it will take you to the first new post since your last visit.

You are automatically subscribed to a thread when you post to it, or you can select "Thread Tools" then "subscribe to this thread" above the top post on a page. You can unsubscribe the same way.

Not sure how that would work. You shouldn't have any trouble keeping your email clear if the instant notification works for you like it does for me.

Yes. I pretty much live on my settings page.

And the form inbox is rather limited, so it would fill up fast unless you kept up with deleting old messages.

I've run into that page before. Yes, it lets me know where there are new posts, but not if they are in response to mine.

On the old CARM vb boards, there was a setting that sent me an alert when someone responded to a post of mine, or quoted a post of mine (something like that). I found that very convenient so I wouldn't miss a reply.

I feel I can't do that now because my usual posting habit is often in many threads, but one or two posts in a thread. That gives me too much to sift through, so I am limiting my posts.

Check your spam folder to see if the notifications are ending up there.
