What would be the point, given that a number of states' GOPs went ahead and canceled their Republican primaries?

He was a Democrat right up until he decided to run as mayor and glomed onto Giuliani's popularity. After being mayor he changed parties again. Or, it would be more accurate to say that he changed labels because he hadn't changed.

It shows that while he might not have been a politician when he ran for office he sure has become one now. To paraphrase Nietzsche, be careful when you gaze long enough into the swamp for the swamp will gaze back into you.

He's been rising in large part because of the Biden campaign's regular-as-clockwork implosion and people looking for another "moderate" alternative.

As for being in the debate... Bloomberg has a Obama/Trump-sized ego and probably thought he'd do fine. And he likely felt he would be savaged even if not there (certainly true) and figured it'd be better if he could defend himself.

He was a democrat 20 years or so ago, became a republican to run for mayor and then became an independent. He didn't become a democrat again until he decided to run in this election in Oct of 2018.

This is unusually intelligent and thoughtful for you. Who did you crib it from?

The only reason he's getting any support from the DNC is because they're using him as a spoiler to derail Sanders. They desperately want a brokered convention so they can select the candidate of their choice.

An "Independent" is currently leading the Democratic field in the polls and I haven't heard you complain.

If that happens the Bernie bros will go nuclear. It'll look like the 1968 Chicago convention all over again.

That's just dumb. If anything Bloomberg will help Sanders to win the nomination, by further dividing the more moderates vote, and it is highly doubtful that the DNC would be foolish enough to disenfranchise Sanders supporters with a brokered convention that takes their victory away from them.

Sanders is an Independent, but he has always caucused with the democrats, is supported by democrats, and was even supported by the DNC in his Senate run against a democrat.

So there's "independents" and then there are "independents"

I agree, but nobody has ever accused the DNC of being particularly smart. Unfortunately, Democrat voters are even dumber and don't seem entirely aware of what's really going on.

The way things are currently tracking, Bloomberg could siphon off just enough delegates to keep Crazy Bernie from earning the plurality needed to avoid a brokered convention.
