The US rose to its predominant economic position during the nineteenth century, when the capitalist system was hardly what we call "free". It was the Gilded Age, the age of the robber barons and the rise of the Pinkertons as a private army used to secure the aims of capitalists. Even the US Marine Corps was an arm of commercial interests, Smedly Butler (the greatest Marine in history) single handedly secured American commercial interests in the hemisphere. (google Banana Wars and Small Wars Manual).

Smedly Butler isn't the most famous Marine in history, take my Ex Marine word for it.

Bernie Sanders Praises China For Eradicating Poverty By Killing All The Poor People

U.S.—Presidential candidate and Senator Bernie Sanders offered words of praise for China's successful reduction of poverty in many parts of the country by killing off all the poor people through government control of the economy.

Sanders pointed out that the country has been very successful in eliminating vast swathes of poverty and also the poor.

"America still has a lot of poor people, and that's because we haven't been aggressive in implementing socialist programs that cause mass starvation," Sanders said, his fingers flopping around like ten tiny wacky inflatable tube men. "Firing squads, death camps, breadlines---all of these are humanitarian tools in the arsenal of the government to shoot poverty in the face, and sometimes also the poor in the face, when it's necessary."

The senator also pointed out that poor people, who often own fewer than three homes, don't contribute much to a socialist economy and "not much is lost" when these single-home-owners are shot or simply starve to death as the government can't even figure out how to get food to everyone, a problem even bad fast-food restaurants like McDonald's solved decades ago.

Once a Marine, always a Marine?

Others, from more recent memory, have taken Butlers place, but Smedly Butler personified American foreign policy. He wrote the small wars manual which was dusted off after 9-11. Butler had a prestige similar to Washington (who quelled a potential rebellion of veterans by force of personality), Butler's actions during the Bonus Army's march on Washington likely avoided more bloodshed (in contrast to Douglas MacArthur's show of force).

I suppose even the Chesty Pullers will fade from conscience, but few left their mark on the Marines in quite the same way that Butler did. And not many saw as many wars as Butler.

And here's me thinking that Christians are supposed to feed the poor and help people who are in need.

And using one's tax dollars to pay for services like roads, fire and police is one thing,

paying for another person's food, housing, health care is another.
See above about feeding the poor and helping people who are in need. And apparently using one's "tax dollars" to give generous tax cuts to the very wealthy, massively driving up the national deficit, is OK

As far as I can tell Seer's morality consists of wanting to murder America's enemies and lusting after women. Helping the poor and needy seems to be something he's actively opposed to.

Yes, it's interesting how cravenly Evangelicals like seer have accepted political corruption in the US today in order to advance the allegedly Christian agenda of ostracizing LGBTQ people, ending women’s reproductive rights and reviving white Christian nationalism.

Why are you lying about me? And I bet I personally do, and have done, more to help the poor and needy than you.

And we feed over two hundred poor families a month, and do so year after year:

Tassman (or whomever, I didn't think to look to see exactly whom made the post) phrased it as a collective responsibility as opposed to a responsibility of the individual churches.
