CNN's Jake Tapper has already debunked that narrative.

Why does Shelby Pierson and Christopher Wray, the two sources named in the OP article, continue to drive that narrative? It's a dangerous game they're playing. Trump is actually colluding with the Russians once again by denying his own Intel. agency report and firing the DNI, and the deputy to the DNI, for doing their job and reporting it to Congress.

CNN's Jake Tapper breaks ranks and does some actual journalism for a change. According to his sources, the Russian government has developed a preference for Trump because "they understand the president is someone they can work with, he's a dealmaker.

That makes much more sense. Trump hasn't been a good Putin "puppet" at all, considering his attacks on Assad, pullout from the Iran deal (not to mention the Solemaini hit), adding additional Russian sanctions, refusal to recognize Crimean annexation, and attempts to thwart the Gazprom pipeline. When all that dust settles, he's worse for Russia than Obama was; Obama merely threatened to attack Assad ("red line") and Trump actually did it - twice.

I think Russians perceive Obama and Hillary as entrenched militarists and anti-Russian. I certainly agree with that regarding Hillary. Going into 2020, the same also applies to Biden. Trump isn't anti Russian and he isn't pro Russian. Now, if their (meaning the Russian government and not independent Russian actors) interference amounts to stooges and bots on social media making false claims, I believe the same might apply to governments other than Russia. I'd be curious if anyone is investigating shenanigans from Germany or Canada, or China or Cuba. Or Saudi Arabia.

Semantics. He confirms Russian interference, then he says Russia "understands" Trump. Saying that Russia "understands" Trump because he's easier to work with (btw, how does he even know this?) is basically affirming the same narrative we've been told over and over for the past three or so years. Tamayto-Tamawto. And I find it funny that Tapper is trying to distinguish the network he works for from "the news" when his network has been pushing this narrative the hardest since its conception.
