It's weird you care about this stuff.

Whenever I encounter any of the over-the-top craziness that she lists I just walk / click away. I consider it silliness. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with my progressiveness or leftism. I call it "fake pseudo-wokism". It doesn't happen much in reality, but the media enjoys the headlines they can make.

Precisely because it doesn't actually exist much, it plays no role in the general culture of average progressivism. So if you think progressivism as a whole is somehow collapsing due to a couple of fake pseudo-wokists somewhere saying dumb stuff, and that the average progressive is like this woman in this video in getting upset by it, then you're just deluding yourself.

You ARE what she talks about. You are about the furthest left person I have ever met.

That's pretty amusing. Also pretty sad in terms of how sheltered it shows you are.

I advocate for a Denmark/Sweden like mixed system where public and private spending each constitute about 50% of the economy. On an international/historical scale from zero-government to total-government, I'm smack bang in the center between libertarianism and communism. Says something about you if you've never met anyone actually on the left.

I have lived all over the place: USA and Europe. Have you?

Yes, I have never seen someone so far left that he thinks Stalin was a right-winger before.

Most leftists don't actually advocate infanticide to the age of 3 either. So yeah you pretty much are what she was talking about.

While I think Starlight did something bordering on irreparable to his reputation by flirting with infanticide, he really is just a centrist when compared with politics at large. Granted some of the positions he supports such as minimum wage, are completely foreign to me as we don't have that in Denmark.

This is what the "Alt-Right" initially was (before this became bastardized by progressives to mean ANYONE not far progressive left). Liberals moving away from the progressive left because of their insane radical policies, especially the over-the-top PC push. They sort of adopted a more conservative lean, though not all the way traditionally conservative -- hence the word "alternative." A lot of them were actually atheists -- Joe Rogan, Dave Rubin, Tim Pool, etc.

It doesn't seem to get through to them no matter how many times I say it. Sparko seems to think I'm more communist than Stalin.

Having a minimum wage of some sort is close to universal in Western countries where wages aren't union-negotiated sector-wide like they are in Scandinavia.

How I classify Stalin has nothing to do with where I am politically. I'm not a communist.

A analogous situation would be how different people hold different views about whether Jehovah's witnesses ought to be classified as 'Christian' or not... their view on that doesn't necessarily tell you what their own religious beliefs are.

People have struggled since Stalin's time with regard to how to classify the new system Stalin instituted, with many at the time coining the term "horseshoe theory" to try and describe how Stalin's supposedly "far left" government looked so much akin to what they would have normally described as a "far right" government. So they suggested that maybe the left-right political continuum 'bends' so that the ends are near each other like a horseshoe. I don't think that's a particularly informative or useful way to try and analyze politics, and think that for most purposes it's more accurate and useful just to classify Stalin's government as far-right given that is what it most closely resembles. You can quibble if you like with how and why I categorize him that way.

But my own politics aren't remotely close to Stalin's and have little to nothing to do with how I categorize him. I'm an international centrist, in that I think the data shows the optimal economy is about 50/50 public/private, with the government doing about half the economic spending and private citizens doing the other half. That's about where Denmark and Sweden are currently. It's also smack bang half-way between having zero government (ultra-libertarianism) and having a government that runs the entire economy (ultra-communism). So if you've never met anyone to the left of me, that's kinda sad because it means you've never met a single person on the entire 'left-hand' half of the political spectrum (i.e. who wants govt spending in the economy > private spending in the economy). Have you really never met a single communist?

And, as you know, on social issues I'm generally a liberal, but it can be complicated. I'm generally anti-immigration (!), generally pro people able to do whatever they want in their personal lives (sex/drugs/prostitution etc), generally anti policies that harm or priviledge particular races or people-groups, etc. Some of the most serious arguments I've gotten into have been against people here in NZ who consider themselves 'liberal activists' who seek to give a racial minority here (the 'native' people... immigrated here from east asia ~1200AD, significantly interbred with European immigrants since ~1850s) significantly more power in many and various ways than the white European-descended majority (immigrated here ~1830AD-now)... personally I wouldn't call the activists pushing for disproportionate power to a minority group 'liberals' and would consider my position of wanting equality to be the more liberal position, but they wouldn't agree. I'm guessing in your mind, you'd call my position on that issue the 'conservative' one... yet when you apply my same concern for equality to America where Blacks suffer significant injustices that are baked into the system and who have done since the days of slavery at America's founding, I would look like a liberal due to my concern for them. I would just call myself a principled liberal, and say that the working out of those principles depends on the issues and what's going on in the country in question.

Most leftists don't actually advocate infanticide to the age of 3 either.
"Advocate" is a strong word relative to my extremely apathetic view. I remain amused by your obsession with regard to your non-biblical anti-abortion stance though.

It's also quite amusing that you try and view my entire political viewpoint through the lens of a single issue that's important to you but not at all to me.

So yeah you pretty much are what she was talking about.
I take it you didn't actually pay attention to her words, and creatively choose to mishear it as "Progressives are wrong, conservatives are right". That wasn't what she was saying and she wasn't remotely talking about me.

You pay more in taxes therefore you have better social policies and yet your disposable income on average is about the same as in the U.S. You don't have a minimum wage law, yet your minimum wages on average are higher than the U.S. Any idea why that is?

'centrists' are moderate leftists who want to say 'look at all those far-left nutters now making a centrists'.

Also, moderate leftists usually don't want to admit that full blown leftism has usually expressed itself as a totalitarian hellhole.
