It's you gullibly trusting the Daily Mail which tends to write about half the truth at the best of times.

Even that daily mail article notes in passing that this not-so-innocent mother had used accounts in two different names to go on a lengthy smear campaign against this particular person, calling them a huge variety of derogatory names and defamatory things over a period of time. Googling a few other articles make it clear that the issue she was being accused of was prolonged harassment.

Mother, 38, is arrested in front of her children and locked in a cell for seven HOURS after calling a transgender woman a man on Twitter
That incorrectly implies that the thing she did wrong was that she once called a transgender women a man, and got locked up for that. In fact, that was the least of a long list of things she did. More recent articles note that a court found her guilty of her lengthy online campaign of harassment and abuse of this particular person. She got a small fine for it.

You'll be pleased to know that another UK court made it very clear at the same time that tweeting transphobic comments in general (not directed at any specific person, not harassing any specific person) was perfectly fine and a free speech issue, and told police off for talking to a person about the fact they'd tweeted 50 anti-trans comments.

I don't think anyone here besides you would claim to be more left than Stalin. So everyone is to the right of you.

Gosh. Twitter must have been so terrified of her "pig in a wig" comments that they couldn't even bring themselves to ban her from the platform. Clearly police action was necessary.* I'm curious, how often do the police go after other people accused of online harassment against anyone who isn't transgender?

          *This is sarcasm.

So the courts pushed back once against left-wing insanity and you consider it a win. Oh-kay...

Fortunately the company Twitter and their general lack of interest in policing anything, aren't the measure of legality or morality. Also, as a multinational platform they can't really deal well with situations where there are different laws in different countries.

            Clearly police action was necessary.
You don't believe police action can ever be warranted with regard to continued harassment of a person? Or you have exhaustively viewed the facts in this instance about everything the woman said and did to harass her victim, and think all her actions taken together didn't warrant a police response?

Or, you are just saying that one pig in a wig comment by itself in isolation would be okay, even though that wasn't the situation here?

I think many conservatives delude themselves by misunderstanding cases like this. They imagine a person saying a single anti-trans comment getting thrown in prison, and that plays into their victimization fantasies where they imagine they and other conservatives are being persecuted. When in reality that's entirely delusional on their part.

So the courts pushed back once against left-wing insanity and you consider it a win.
I'm saying that the UK courts appear to be being fairly consistent in saying: Expressing political free speech is fine, and this includes expressing views that are anti-trans in general, but prolonged and focused harassment of a specific person isn't fine.

Overall, that strikes me as an okay place to draw the line. I imagine many conservatives would probably agree with me on that.

This has already been discussed somewhere on this site. It occurred last fall.

              https://nationalpost.com/news/father...nce-court-told

VANCOUVER — A father who opposes his transgender child’s pursuit of testosterone therapy showed behaviour that went beyond mere expressions of disapproval but was coercive and intimidating — and thus was a clear act of family violence, B.C.’s top court was told Thursday.

Because of that harmful behaviour, a lower court was correct to place restrictions on the father’s ability to talk about the case, argued the child’s lawyer, barbara findlay.

“For a transgender person, having the world refuse to accept the gender identity that you say you are is the most profound harm because it’s a denial of your human identity,” findlay said.

“(The) dad’s expression rights end at the point where they harm (the child).”

These things are happening more and more all over.

If this isn't a thing Star why are the police going after such things in the first place? Imagine what it cost this man to go through this?
