It is not fear mongering - it is the reality of what he has done. His colossal and continual mismanagement of the current crisis is only the latest incident.
The Wilshire 5000 (which I find far more useful than the DJIA) is currently trading 500 points above the level it was when Trump took office. The 3% and 4% economic growth he promised never materialized. His GDP growth numbers are almost exactly where they were under Obama, but under Trump it was at the cost of a $1T deficit in times of a reasonably healthy economy. Meanwhile, climate change has seen zero attention and the fossil fuel sector has been buttressed and supported. Our position as a world leader has been eroded on many fronts, leaving a vacuum for China and Russia to step into. Our ability to harness partners in times of war and physical peril are eroded because we cannot keep our promises to those we engage with. Our media institutions have been repeatedly attacked, lies have become the new accepted norm. Childish insults, bullying, and trolling have become the new norm (rather than the exception) in our politics.
I said 3.5 years ago that we would all need to be willing to suffer a bit in order to rid ourselves of this man. Personally, I'm willing to see most of my retirement nest egg vaporized if it means he is not re-elected in November.
I suspect many on the right are not truly grasping just how strongly those of us who oppose this man want to see him gone, and are willing to sacrifice if that is what it takes. Every election since 2016 has told the same story: the left and moderates are angry and motivated. Elections that should have been a slam dunk have been a tight squeeze, even if they did ultimately swing right. I think November is going to be the beginning of the end of this Trump-led travesty. Hopefully, if that happens, what remains of the Republican party will examine itself, reconsider its choices, and re-find its soul.Last edited by lilpixieofterror; 03-16-2020, 03:54 PM."The man from the yacht thought he was the first to find England; I thought I was the first to find Europe. In real life, we all know elderly loved ones who we're extremely concerned about and aren't some disposable, abstract concept. Which is why I've met no young person who feels smug that older generations or vulnerable people are in danger.
As always, there's tonnes of stupid going around, but that's basically it - tonnes of stupid.
Don't get me wrong though, boomers have a lot to make up for with their vote to economically sanction their own country in 2016, but this isn't 'just rewards'.

You’re fear mongering while accusing others of what you yourself are doing. You have presented selected facts, to paint a narrative you wanted to hear and ignored things you don’t want to hear. Not everything Trump promised happened? Did everything Obama promise, happen? The media has been attacked? Did you forget to mention that they have been caught lying and spreading fake news and made up stories? You seemed to have forgotten that part too. Like I said, fear mongering, change what you said up a bit, change the timeline, and you’ll sound just like many Republicans in 2012. The fact you want poor people to suffer, reveals all we need to know about you personally. It’s sick you want those, who depend on retirement incomes, to suffer, so your preferred candidate wins. Yet it’s your opponents that are heartless and hate the poor and working class.
However, at no point did I say I want poor people to suffer. That part of your statement concerning my posts is false. The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Like I said, selective facts. It isn’t hard to spin it that Obama was the biggest threat, or Bush, or Romney, or McCain, or really any President/candidate you don’t like.
