Funny coming from someone who has been busily working at attempting to make it about "orange man bad."

If you'd been paying attention, you'd be aware of the fact that most of my posts in this thread have been about trying to get the facts out there about the virus itself and it's current exponential growth in the world and in the US, with a focus on dispelling brain dead ignorance, like the idea the mortality of covid19 is 1/10 that of the flu, or the brain dead idea that because the absolute number of cases and deaths is currently less that those of the flu, this virus is somehow less of a threat than the flu, or that State Governer's and World leaders are 'over-reacting' to the threat posed by covid19.

Where Trump enters the picture is that up until the last few days, many of those same brain dead comments and ideas could be found sourced in his own words or those media pundits aiming to support Trumps words.

I saw your list of what you called "facts" most of which have been utterly demolished by various independent fact checkers (who are anything but pro-Trump like the AP and Snopes) and how you proclaimed that anyone who doesn't continue to disseminate such demonstrable falsehoods are sources who "are misinforming the public."

Trump has handled it as well as anybody could have, I think, and certainly better than Obama and Biden did with the swine flu. To give you an idea, Biden got a team of experts together to come up with his own response plan... and it was essentially a list of things that the Trump administration was already doing or had proposed.

Rogue, the list of statements by Trump is just that, a list of statements by Trump. Brain dead as they were. But that is ONE post. Most of my posts in this thread are about the raw data related to covid-19 and rebutting stupid ideas about it. for example:

It looks more like Trump was flailing with ridiculous responses at first, but then those around him (likely Pence) with cooler and experienced heads reeled him back in to take a more professional approach.

It doesn't. It makes the point that no President, real or hypothetical, could do a perfect job in everyone's eyes in these circumstances. Has Trump made mistakes? Yes. So what? He is your President right now, he is who you all have to support and help do the best job possible until the crisis is over.

ETA: I noticed a few of the other posts after I posted this. I try, Mike, not to make definitive statements about things I cannot gather facts on, or to eliminate possibilities I cannot honestly eliminate. The fact is, your scenario is a possibility. So is the possibility that they have a superior treatment approach. So is the possibility that their demographics trend younger, or that the vast majority of their cases were among the young. I don't have enough information to make a definitive statement, so I don't make a definitive statement. That is why my post noted the situation and raised the question, without taking a stance. If that makes me "slippery" or "like nailing jello to the wall," I can live with it. Worse things have been said about me.
But none of those things really accounts for the low number of deaths per capita.

What is interesting is that Germany had a pandemic plan which they apparently followed. We also have various pandemic plans, but those guidelines were not followed, we as a country have had various plans ranging from biowarfare contingencies to the critiques of SARS, swine flu, and avian flu epidemics in this century. And we have multiple bureaucracies which have expertise in epidemics.

But one thing that is striking, the effective responses seem to be modeled on the plans of the early twentieth century, when we (almost) eliminated TB and Brucellosis in cattle, two zoonotic diseases. The 21st century epidemics are also zoonotic diseases.

But most of the discussion centers on political issues, pro- and anti- Trump, socialism (an infinitely elastic term), racially charged rhetoric, etc.

Also, as people learn to work from home, businesses may see benefits in making this a permanent feature. There might be long term environmental improvements.
