MM is right, you guys complain that Trump is a wanna-be dictator in one breath and in the next breath complain because he isn't acting like one.
President Trump: "We have a thing called the Constitution, which I cherish, number one. Number two, those governors, I know every one of them, they're doing a great job. They're being very, very successful with what they're doing. And, as you know, I want governors to be running things. In some cases, we'll supersede."

President Trump really finds himself in a catch-22 situation. If he announced a national lockdown, people would freak out, saying he's taking away states' rights and abusing his power. Because he's not implementing this stay-at-home order, he's being accused of "not doing enough." Whatever decision he makes or doesn't make, someone would light him up.

We should be encouraging the federal government to support states to make the best decisions for its residents. It doesn't make sense for places like North Dakota to be on lockdown the same way New York or Washington State is. It's comparing apples to oranges.

He likely has forgotten about it -- or hopes that everyone else has. That or maybe it's "the other Biden" he was talking about, possibly that "O'Biden" guy who was with the "Bama" fella.

A politician that is inconsistent! Oh my...whatever will we do?

Do you have any clue how many times Mr. Trump has said the exact opposite of what he said previously - and denied the contradiction even in the face of video/audio evidence of his reversal? There are collections after collections of people saying the opposite the opposite of what they previously said. If you're going to rail on one - you should rail on the others. If you're going to defend one, you should be defending the others.

Of course - you will have a reason why it's OK for Trump but bad for Biden...

No, he said that a few months ago when he was running for Senate. He's running for president now, so it's a whole different ball game.

No. After Pearl Harbor, FDR did NOT say: we're going to war, but we'll let the governors decide what to do. A national crisis demands a national response... nothing to do with dictatorship but a lot more with leadership.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war, no where does it give the power to institute a nationwide stay-at-home order. Say something else dumb please.

Well...not a great comparison. WWII was with an external foe to the nation as a whole. Outward: we function as a nation. Inward, we function as 50 states. I know that is an over simplification (e.g., states can make international trade deals), but it's close enough for...ummm.. government work!

I think a better comparison would be the Great Depression and the Great Recession as well as the previous pandemics. The role of the governors is to oversee their states. The role of the fed is to help manage interstate and multistate issues, and to provide support to states. A pandemic is, by definition, an interstate/multistate issue. If Trump does not feel good calling for shelter in place, then he could (and should) restrict interstate travel to/from those states that are not taking the pandemic seriously. Of course, he won't. Those states are his states and such an act would alienate his base. So better to sacrifice some lives than risk losing in November.

What’s different about this one is that when it gets a hold, in the lungs, it kills you really quickly, there is no treatment, and no immunity in the population. It also has a high reproduction rate in populations that are not taking very aggressive distancing measures. Regular health services are not equipped to handle the numbers of seriously ill people. But, most of us, do not suffer severe illness from it.

                              • Liberal governors are ratcheting up the "Blame Trump!" narrative, saying they weren't prepared because Trump didn't tell them to be... or something. As Trump explained to Chuck Schumer in a recent letter, emergency preparedness is the responsibility of the individual states, and the federal government can only provide limited backup and support. Now liberals are claiming that "everybody" saw this coming, so it begs the question, why didn't those governors, first of all, have the supplies on hand to deal with a pandemic that the "experts" have supposedly been predicting for years, and secondly, why didn't they act immediately to protect their own citizens? If Trump didn't act early enough, then neither did they. Whatever blame they wish to heap on the President, they are every bit as culpable.
