Most likely virulent but not actually very deadly. But people will panic especially since the media have been sensationalising the spread in China. The spread is essentially unstoppable. Governments need people to be more concerned about hygiene and mass gatherings while not inducing a full blown panic, which explains a) the mixed signals and b) why almost all of them are not seriously testing for it.
There are countries who haven't seriously tested for it with much traffic from China (Hong Kong) and you don't see people dying in significant numbers. The Italians have bluntly said that the only reason why they are 'discovering' many cases is simply because they are bothering to seriously test for it.
