    The failure of globalism

Demi can point to many things, Schengen allowing virus spread, Italy asking for help from Europe and getting it only from China, travel lockdowns to slow down spread.

But the best example is probably supply chains.

At least this one isn't that serious. There's still time to change before something really serious comes.
. Bloomberg, by comparison, may be the candidate that most of the Founders hoped would arise: a wealthy patrician, much like them, who would use his vast resources and influence to defeat what he views as disruptive elements in the nation’s political system.

And they were all whining when Trump wanted to invoke tariffs.

Again and again, Trump is right, the neoliberals and neocons (led by Bushes and Clintons) were wrong.

Something tells me this is actually going to push us to globalism even more. Climate change was supposed to be the crisis to do that, but it failed. Pandemic is a crisis that's much more immediate and tangible.

    We'll see.

When a vaccine is released, I'm guessing we'll really start seeing more calls for international cooperation in order to distribute the vaccine worldwide. IOW, the problem and reaction is creating panic and isolationalism we're seeing now, but "the solution" I believe will move more towards global collaboration and cooperation.

Yeah but a lot of the financial problems and medical shortages are because of globalism. Most of the medical masks, and ingredients for antibiotics come from China, for example. We used to do it here, but China undercut us so badly they all closed down. I think this is going to mean that countries will want to rely less on other countries for essentials.

Those manufacturing jobs went abroad because those foreign workers were better educated, more skilled and much cheaper. You loved the cheap consumer goods they made for you.
Their standard of living will rise, yours will fall and there will be a rebalancing. Maybe you will end up making televisions for the Chinese, that you cannot afford yourself.

An article I saw claimed that was the effect of the 1918 flu pandemic.

Considering that China has openly threatened to ban exports of medical products this is indeed troubling

I'm always still in trouble again
