A history discussion with a poster who has never read about history is an exercise in futility.

    • Cuomo and Deblasio are calling for ventilators. Trump is saying they are exaggerating.

Any predictions on which view will be viewed as rational in a month or two?

To us, yes. To them and their ilk...they are the only ones who are right and we are living in our bubble. Much of what I write is misinterpreted to align with those on the far left, and then that misinterpretation becomes their truth which they push forward relentlessly.

Better that we exchange with the few that seem open to data and facts and the analysis thereof and just leave the rest to their own devices. It's a decision I've already made concerning MM, and probably will soon make with respect to Pix.

There are numerous ways to step up production. The first, and easiest, is to staff up a company that manufactures only part of the day to operate 24 hours per day. With the right logistics, that can be done in a matter of days, especially if there is a trained and idled workforce available. Those businesses have a supply chain that will likewise need to be adjusted. The second easiest is to retool a parallel industry. That can take longer depending on how closely they are aligned to begin with. Usually, that time frame is measured in weeks. The third is to take less closely related firms and retool them extensively. That can take months or years.

But it begins with leadership - which is what we are sorely lacking. Too much energy is going into getting face-time, campaigning in the guise of briefings, and ensuring that everyone is showing the necessary/required level of obeisance. How do I know this is happening? An leader worth his salt would have long since told anyone speaking on podium with him, "lay off the gratitude towards me - it's not about me - it's about the people on the line. If you are going to express gratitude - express it for them." Instead, the parade of fawning continues because everyone knows if you don't give this man the desired level of obeisance, you will be sidelined, attacked, and/or possibly fired. The narcissism is relentless.

And the nit picker continues to pick nits, were these tanks and aircraft popping out of retooled factories, within a month, or did it take time to retool and train people to build a completely new product?

U.S. medical technology is in high demand around the world. We also import medical equipment due to the size of the U.S. healthcare industry. I have not been able to find import/export percentages or narrow down import/export to classes of equipment.

Given the scale of the current pandemic, we are also scaling up orders for and imports of medical supplies from Russia, China, and the EU.

                  No.

Yes - it is likely to be more of a challenge - depending on the specific sector/location/product.

These generalized observations you are making do not appear to address the core issue: little is being done to act on the Defense Production Act and even begin getting what is needed moving. What is happening thus far is, AFAICT, largely the result of private action hampered by a lack of coordination and executive effort needing to deal with the logistics. Only recently have steps been taken to stop the price gouging, but there is still no coordination of resources between states to ensure precious resources are going to need rather than wealth. The fed has been handing out the stockpile, which Trump just admitted is almost depleted. When that happens - things are going to get ugly fast.

But that was never my objection - I objected to your claim about "months before".

You've now had several chances to either explain how the WHO (or even the Chinese) knew about human-to-human transmission of Covid-19 months before Jan 14th, or admit your mistake, but have chosen diversions and insults instead.

Poor wording, I should had said China had to have known, for months, and just repeated this lie and got the WHO and the rest of the world to buy into their lies.

Speculation. The fact is - we don't know. Likely? Maybe. Possible? Certainly. But your definitive statements lack any evidence, making them pure speculation.

If the first case showed up in mid November and it takes 3-14 days for symptoms to show up, how long would it had taken hospital workers to show signs of COVID19 infection? Not too long.
