The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

This is natural, for a conservative, since the very nature of conservatism is to resist change. It is the opposite of liberalism, which is constantly looking for new and better ways to accomplish things and new and better ways to function as a society. The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. There are two ways to make water boil: turn up the heat under the water, or lower the pressure in the environment occupied by the water. The result is the same either way.
There are two ways to "drum someone out," engage in a formal process to expel them, or make the environment unpleasant enough to cause them to "self-expel." The result is the same either way.
If you disagree, then (to be consistent) you also have to adopt the position that there is nothing amiss about Democrats "turning up the heat" on members of the party who are not following the "party line."The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Words have meaning, my friend. If you say "I got drummed out of the party", it clearly shows that somebody INTENDED to push you out. Not that they just were so "uncomfortable to be around" that you left of your own free will, grumbling and complaining. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
