The wife of an Arizona man who died after ingesting chloroquine phosphate to protect himself from the coronavirus warned the public on Monday not to “believe anything that the president says” and rely on doctors instead.

“We saw Trump on TV – every channel – and all of his buddies and that this was safe,” the woman, who is in critical care after taking the drug with her husband, told NBC News’ Vaughn Hillyard. “Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure.”

The president has repeatedly touted chloroquine as a “very powerful” treatment against coronavirus and falsely claimed it was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    Trumpism is lethal
oh please. Trump said it was a hopeful treatment they were looking into. He never said it was a cure. And if idiots overdose on drugs they shouldn't even have access to because they are prescription drugs, then it is their own fault, not Trumps. And the story said they took it as a preventative not as a treatment.

You guys castigate Trump when he hold information back, and you castigate him when he doesn't.

Worry about your own country and idiot of a prime minister.

PS - Just to show how stupid these people were:

The Arizona couple were trying to immunize themselves from COVID-19 – but they apparently used a version of chloroquine meant for cleaning fish tanks, according to a press release from Banner Health in Phoenix. The man died, and the woman is in critical condition.

Quite a few are invested in pushing Chloroquine. Laura Ingram tried to bait Dr. Fauci to admit he would take the unproven drug. https://www.thedailybeast.com/dr-fau...mp-touted-drug

          Oh no, you didn't.

They can track prescriptions and if unscrupulous doctors are overprescribing they should be arrested for drug trafficking.
Says here, they're way ahead of you on that.
The stockpiling has become so worrisome in Idaho, Kentucky, Ohio, Nevada, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Texas that the boards in those states have issued emergency restrictions or guidelines on how the drugs can be dispensed at pharmacies. More states are expected to follow suit.

“This is a real issue and it is not some product of a few isolated bad apples,” said Jay Campbell, executive director of the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

Or, and to be clear, I'm not recommending this, we can pretend this is yet another partisan attack on deer leader, and knee jerk our way into incomprehension of even the simplest turn of phrase. Don't even pretend you don't know what evaporate means. We're staring down the barrel of a million dead Americans. It's past time to leave the partisan crap behind. This guy's not even a Republican.

Chloroquine and it's derivatives are actual medications, currently being used off label by actual doctors in the treatment of covid-19. It may be prophylactic, but it's not a cure, and it's not going to be a game changer. It won't keep patients off of ventilators. But for patients on ventilators, it's useful, like N95 masks, if they're not being hoarded out of the supply chain.

Promoting this drug to the general public was irresponsible, at best.

And it's not best. In context, it was yet another "one day it's like a miracle, it will disappear" retreat from reality. This is going to get a lot worse, and then it's going to get worse than that. America needs to be prepared for exponentially rising daily bodycounts in the thousands within the next two weeks, peaking some time in late May or early June. Nothing says clueless quite so well as talking about re-opening businesses by Easter. Nothing says chaos like an administration that can't keep the president from saying these things.

If Trump was really intent on reassuring me, he could look up from the professionally prepared notes he's mouthing and say something, anything, that doesn't immediately contradict them. Or better than that, he could stay home, and leave these press briefings to people who don't have to pretend he's smarter than they are in order to share the mic.

I mean, Jesus *did* call people dogs and vipers, so I don't think it's inherently wrong to compare people to animals in the abstract...

I never said anything about partisanship. I think you are on some strawman path or something.

You don't know any of that. In fact various people have shown remarkable recovery from being on death's bed to having no fever in a few days. Sure, it is anecdotal and they need more testing, but you were trying to sound pretty sure of yourself there, when not even the doctors know such things yet.

Promoting this drug to the general public was irresponsible, at best.
oh please. Giving hope isn't irresponsible and Trump was not the one who started the news. It was the doctors themselves who released the information to the news and then the news asked Trump about it. He never said that it was a cure, and he did say that it needed testing but that from what he heard it was promising. If Trump didn't say anything and the CDC was mum, then the people would accuse them of hiding information. There will always be idiots out there who overreact and do stupid things, like drink Aquarium cleaner and die. That isn't Trump's fault.

Apparently chloroquine isn't the only drug showing potential for treating the symptoms. Another is a drug that is used for treating Ebola that shuts down virus reproduction.

Blasphemy! (now to decide whether stoning or burning at the stake is appropriate) To stifle the Lord's appointed who has received an anointing, a Holy One who has done more for the Christian faith than anyone, is surely antichrist.

One interesting side note is the (relative) lack of end time predictions, few comparisons with the Pale Horse of the Apocalypse. The end times predictions have declined over the last decade or so in general. But many of the camp which so often makes the predictions of the end times see Trump as the divine tool. Hard to think of the one chosen to lead us out of our Babylon as one ushering in the End of History.

Many were quick to draw inspiration from the Apocalypse of St John in discerning the signs of the time as the time of the signs when Obama was president. The same persons are noticeably quiet now. Trump carried the divine blessing, Obama was an antichrist. But it is now when worship is effectively restricted!

Hey, you never know, the Red Heifer project has been underway for decades..... A purity ritual of temple Judaism needed a red heifer, and since the mideast has had no red heifers (for 2000 years), we have been exporting American bred Red Angus heifers to Israel, waiting for the perfect heifer to appear. And Orthodox rabbis are busy manufacturing instruments for the temple.

The Pharma-sponsored media absolutely does not want a simple pre-existing medicine, CHLOROQUINE, to prevent deaths and improve the country and improve Trump's image.

The good results of Chloroquine must not be admitted by MSNBC or CNN.

Recently on CNN I saw Dr. Sanjay Gupta, their go to medical expert, saying that Chloroquine shows promise as a treatment but needs more testing -- a position virtually every doctor has taken.

Doctors are allowed to use medicines for purposes other than the originally approved purposes. It is sort of better to use a medicine than has already worked for COVID-19 patients than to just let them die. There are not going to be trials of this medicine before this season passes.
