Right now it is not your children, but your neighbor. But scripture does contain the question of just who is your neighbor.

Is the Christian in Canada your neighbor?

As the story of the Good Samaritan indicates our neighbors are more than just our friends and those immediately around us, but even include folks from groups we may not like all that much.

But then as I Timothy 5:8 clearly tells us

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

So if by helping others we leave our own suffering as a result then we have screwed up royally. IOW, if we have a surplus, then we should share. But if we don't, then we need to take care of our own first and foremost.

I'm always still in trouble again

It seems you missed my point.

We should help others, but not if it causes harm to someone else. To put it another way, the ends do not justify the means.

Okay. So should we shut off Canada and South America from our production of 3M N95 masks?

It's amusing when uneducated people lecture scientists on what acceptable sources of knowledge are and aren't and what a real intellectual and scientific mindset ought to be. You and RTT do amuse me.

And then, for all that you emphasize the importance of purity of method and rigorous source checking, you're some of the quickest here to do the exact opposite - to believe crazy conspiracy theories, post dubious and likely false alternative media stories that fit your narratives, and to refuse to believe scientific evidence.

Canada wouldn't need any of your medical supplies if Little Justin hadn't sent 60 tons (or maybe tonnes) of masks and gloves, etc. to China in February.

That man is a moron and needs to be fired.

Keep in mind what he said about China back in 2013 when he was asked which nation he admired most:

"There's a level of admiration I actually have for China. Their basic dictatorship is actually allowing them to turn their economy around on a dime."

Of course it comes honestly in that daddy said the following about Mao after the latter's death.

"Though our social and political systems differ, Canadians recognize the path-breaking spirit of community that, under Chairman Mao’s guidance, has contributed to the modernization of China."

Yeah the "path-breaking spirit of community" that guided at least 60 million of his countrymen and women to slaughter.

Yeah, you thought you made a mistake once but you were mistaken.

Most folks say that in jest, for someone like you -- I'm sure you believe it.

It does seem rather foolish of him on the face of it.

But, looking more into the number involved... the stories I'm seeing as I look it up, say it was 16 tons, and there were only 1101 masks involved. Compared to the 60 million masks the Canadian government has apparently just ordered, the amount they gave to china was a drop in the bucket - a thousandth of a percent of the number they now want. If they plan to use those 60 million masks at a steady rate over the next two years, then the 1101 masks they gave away would have lasted the country 10 minutes if my math is correct. Giving away / selling 10 minute's worth of equipment in the context of buying two years' worth of it, doesn't seem so terrible. Of course, the issue will be actually maintaining a steady supply, rather than total numbers of masks involved. If they run out completely now, having some on order isn't going to help.

I thought I had heard 60 tonnes. It might have been my hearing, but I am also seeing conflicting numbers.

Other than that, you're a twit.

The idiocy that gets written about me by you guys is hilarious.

I'd be the first to admit I know zilch about mechanics, or building contractors. That's why I'm not posting on a car mechanics forum. I don't think in my entire life I've ever given a mechanic or a building contractor any advice, so your imagination is bizarre. Projection maybe? Nor do I know or care about sport, or fashion, or much of the entertainment industry, and that's likewise why I'm not posting on a sports forum or music or movie forum.

I'm a theology and politics nerd, that's why I'm on this forum. And in my day job I work as a scientist, and I'm pretty well-educated. Is that really so very hard to grasp? I wouldn't have thought that was complicated, but it does seem to cause you guys a lot of distress.
