The European Union announced on March 15 it was restricting exports of personal protective equipment, including face shields, surgical masks and gowns. India banned the export of ventilators and sanitizers on March 24. On Wednesday, Switzerland began requiring licenses for exports of masks, gloves, goggles and swabs.
"It's the least we can do for the Swiss population to avoid a shortage of necessary medical equipment in an emergency situation," said Swiss economic minister Guy Parmelin, according to the national broadcaster's website.

Like simplicio said, compare now to the actual leadership role the US played during the ebola crisis under Obama.
Romanticized by the leftist media. But the truth is less than flattering... From 2014:

Five Democratic House members on Wednesday called for hearings into budget cuts at the National Institutes of Health and CDC.
The lawmakers said NIH has lost $1.2 billion in funding over the last four years and that a CDC program that supports public workers was slashed 16 percent during the past four years, while a hospital preparedness program lost 44 percent of its funding.
“The CDC and the NIH are already working to combat the spread of Ebola,” said Rep. Michael M. Honda, California Democrat. “In light of recent tragic developments in Texas, and in the interests of ensuring public safety and transparency, we need an update from these agencies so we can ensure they have the proper funding to protect patients, health care workers and the public at large.”

Leadership in the global stage isn’t just some right that’s bestowed on the strongest nation.
Leadership is seldom bestowed. The cream rises to the top on its own. Some embrace and some resist.

Goodwill creates power and influence and China is taking this opportunity
And failing. Several of their exports of medical goods have been blocked due to inferior quality. And the world is aware. Plus, according to China's own export data, their exports of everything, including medical goods, shrank in the first quarter.

to fill the space created by the incompetence and weakness of the trump administration
Spoken like a true TrumpOCD sufferer...

and the more the US alienated themselves the more power and influence they will lose to them.
Confidence in the US is still higher than China, and it hasn't dropped during this. Trump's confidence level has suffered a bit globally, thanks to the leftist media's handling of the US response, but it isn't drastically lower than it has been for the past 3 years.

Even this Trump-hating homer can articulate that the US is still the world leader.

Instead of complaining about China all day, this should be a call to action for the trump administration if remaining the global leader is something important to them.
The Trump admin HAS taken action. I am literally forbidden from traveling with my job working for the government and have been since well before any other nation began to quarantine their own citizens. What's your source of information on the matter? Mine's the Deputy Undersecretary for Defense.

Maybe American credibility correlates with the number of coronavirus task forces we have in the White House. New Zealand, Sweden, South Korea, or Singapore cannot field the number this many task forces as we have.

        Competence increases with governmental complexity.

Whoever told you that, is an idiot.

Oh. Then why does the White House have so many special task forces?

Are so many working groups actually needed? I did rather like the idea of Jared and Ivanka on the economic recovery task force. But apparently Fox News posted fake news (or the other possibility the White House gave the information to Fox News, then responded by pulling Jared and Ivanka because of the backlash it created.
