The Wuhan wet market fits the genetic evidence as described in the research in the previous post. The administration acknowledged there is no evidence for a Wuhan lab leak.

This theory of the origin strikes me as quite interesting:

Note: I've done absolutely zero fact-checking of anything said in that video. I post it as a 'that sounds vaguely plausible' rather than 'everyone should believe this!'.

The USA administration acknowledged that there is no evidence to link the Wuhan lab to the COVA-19 pandemic.

Wrong, they've stated that they don't know where it started. It was Chinese researchers that published in Lancet some weeks back that it couldn't have started in the market.

Weren't they researchers independent of the actual china regime?

There haven't been outraged reports about these researches being muzzled for contradicting the regime etc etc.

From what I understand, china isn't denying the Wuhan wet market story is not true, they're saying there's no evidence it was manufactured (which is like pretty much admitting guilt, we just can't prove it).

They've said that they're going where the science indicates, and the scientists have discarded the wet market theory.

they're saying there's no evidence it was manufactured (which is like pretty much admitting guilt, we just can't prove it).
If you can't prove it, why don't they just deny it outright?

    2. That China was doing totally normal scientific study of animal diseases (with a view to understanding them and preventing their future transmission to humans). That one of the labs where they had some caged animals and were studying the diseases of them, was the original source of this virus after one of the scientists there caught it.

China is denying #1, I think rightfully so.

I believe #2 is correct from the evidence I've seen. China is also denying / trying to cover #2 which IMO is silly, but it doesn't really matter whether they admit that one or not. It's not like it makes a difference at this point.
I agree. But as I have been saying, China is big on saving face. They don't want to be held responsible for the biggest fiasco in the history of mankind.

And as people have been saying, they have been lying about their numbers.

    from March 30:

Wuhan residents say coronavirus figures released by China don't add up

Despite China's propaganda pushers being all smiles for the international community, residents told Radio Free Asia that Beijing's claims that there were only 2,500 deaths in Wuhan is far from reality.

For more than a week, seven large funeral homes that serve Wuhan have been handing out the cremated remains of about 500 people to their families every day. When added, the figure puts the official number the Chinese government has claimed into question.

"It can't be right ... because the incinerators have been working round the clock, so how can so few people have died," said Zhang, a Wuhan resident who only gave Radio Free Asia his last name. "They started distributing ashes and starting interment ceremonies on Monday."

Wuhan accounts for about 60 percent of China's coronavirus cases, but the numbers the government has been putting out has fallen sharply in weeks, a sign, the government says, that its aggressive measures are working.

Social media users aren't buying it and have taken the country to task, doing basic math and finding faulty figures in the government's reporting.

The news website Caixin.com reported that 5,000 urns had been delivered by a supplier to the Hankou Funeral Home in one day. That's double the number of deaths Xi's officials claimed.

Well today, China released new numbers for Wuhan sharply raising the death toll, while downplaying it as problems with data reporting.

Chinese epicenter Wuhan raises number of virus dead by about 50 percent

China raised Wuhan’s coronavirus death toll by nearly 50 percent Friday following weeks of allegations that officials were underreporting the numbers to make the situation there look better than it actually was.

The city where the coronavirus outbreak is believed to have originated is now reporting 3,869 deaths after adding 1,290 to its previously-announced figure. Numbers of total cases in the city of 11 million were also raised by 325 to 50,333, accounting for about two-thirds of China’s total 82,367 announced cases.

Chinese state media claimed Friday that the reason for the sudden leap was that medical facilities were overwhelmed during the peak of the outbreak and because of that, “belated, missed and mistaken reporting occurred.”
    https://www.foxnews.com/world/chines...s-dead-by-1290

I believe they knew they couldn't keep up lying with all of the world attention on them at this time so they are trying to revise their numbers upward and blaming it on bad reporting. I also believe this is still not the true number, and they are still lying.
