The obvious contradiction in blaming the WHO for it reluctance to be pulled into the intractable political squabbles like the sovereignty of Taiwan, or the secrecy of mainland China, and its warnings to the world is a stark reminder of the dangers of politicizing science.
The business acumen of Trump is evident, the response allows a lucrative market for entrepreneurial initiative: hospitals are now paying 7 dollars for a mask which used to a half a buck, with similar prices paid for gowns, aprons, and gloves. (latex is now acceptable, latex allergies be darned). But the tweets paint a different picture. He has sold an alternative reality to a credulous audience.
