And secondly, let's say he does release his records and says, "See? No mention of Tara Reade!" what guarantee do we have that the records haven't been recently tampered with? Does the U. of Delaware have some system in place to catalog any changes to the archive, and could that system be circumvented?

But I think the most telling quote from Joe is that he doesn't want to release his Senate record because he's afraid his political opponents will use it as "fodder" against him. Makes you wonder what else is in there that he wants to keep hidden.
You are starting to sound like the democrats complaining about Trump not releasing his tax returns.

I don't know if she is telling the truth or not, and I believe that Biden is presumed innocent until proven guilty. I just don't like the double-standard that basically both sides are using. I have heard conservative pundits acting like the liberal ones did during the Kavenaugh/Ford debacle - claiming that we should automatically believe Reade unless Biden can prove himself innocent. And I have seen liberals now arguing that Biden deserves the benefit of the doubt unless proven guilty, the opposite of what they argued regarding Kavanaugh.

I think people should just be consistent. And I think any accused deserves the benefit of the doubt until there is enough evidence to show otherwise. Whether it is Kavanaugh or Biden or Trump.

Thing is though they aren't the same. It's not like the Dems are dismissing one situation with equal evidence to another situation that they rallied around previously. They're dismissing one situation with a whole lot more evidence than a situation they rallied around previously. It's a double standard x10.

The ones I've heard doing so were fairly obviously being sarcastic.

As far as I know, there has never been a credible accusation that there are any "irregularities" in Trump's tax returns. The Democrats just want a peek at them for purely political reasons, so not really a good parallel.

Reade says, "I filed a complaint." Joe says, "I don't remember a complaint ever being filed." Obviously the most judicious way to clear up the matter is to either unseal the records and release them to the public, or have an unbiased third-party go through them and see if there is any evidence consistent with Reade's claims. (And I still want to know exactly why they were sealed in the first place since unlike Trump's tax returns, what a Senator does should be a matter of public record.)

Yes, Biden, like Kavanaugh, deserves the benefit of the doubt, but I'm struck by how each man responded. Biden says, "No, you can't see my records." Kavanaugh said, "Bring it on! Let me testify and clear my name!"

Sparko, you're not that dumb. He said he didn't remember any complaint that Reade may have filed against him. And why would he remember a complaint being filed agaist him, if there was no complaint filed against him. He didn't say that he couldn't remember if the accussation was true, if it actually happened. His response to that question was NO, it never happened! not that he couldn't remember. Either brush up on the reading comprehension, or stop posting what you know to be false insinuations.

Now that Biden has called for Reade's sexual-assault complaint to be found and made public, Reade seems to be back-peddling on the claim that she ever filed a sexual assault complaint. Oops.

Do you have a source? I checked several outlets that would love for this story to be false, and I can't find anything.

How soon we (conveniently) forget. Oh, I'm going to release my tax returns, as soon as the (8 year) audit is complete. Trump so loves his fools.

If he stays on the ticket into the general, obviously a choice between two men who have sexually assaulted women is going to be off-putting to many voters, and we might see a record number of non-voters.

Is that reversal of sentiment a political tribal thing or based on evidence thing?
