Next time, I hope you are on the side of freedom. You have the freedom to stay quarantined in your home while responsible people make the economy work for everyone's behalf.
I'm still working! And I have to give up my free food and free snacks during this time so I've got it tough too.

Ah. This explains your lack of compassion on those who have lost their companies and the jobs due to this overreaction to the coronavirus.

75K dead even when massively undercounting. More dead than Vietnam. 7th most deadly event in US history, soon to be 6th most deadly.

But sure, *I'm* the one with the lack of compassion .

Made me wonder if I could correctly name in order what the most deadly events were in US history...

I got the 5 major wars correct in their order of deadliness for Americans, but waaay underestimated the pandemics, and how many of those there had actually been in the 20th century.

The rate things are going with Covid in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if it reaches #1.

48 out of 50 states had laws prohibiting the desecration of the American flag (this would obviously include both liberal and conservative states), the SCOTUS still struck them all down as violations of the First Amendment. (I suppose someone could argue that the SCOTUS made the wrong decision)

7th/6th most deadly in terms of body count, or in terms of percentage of the population? Because it's much easier to rack up high numbers with a larger population. If three million people in the US suddenly died just now, that would be about 1% of the population. If three million people died in 1790, that would be about 75% of the total population. I feel percentage is a better indicator.

In Denmark hair dressers were among the first to be allowed to open. They can easily run in a way that prevents contagion from spreading as long as they practice industry standard hygiene, and just clean off the seats. Easy adaptations were made in Denmark and we saw no noticeable rise in infection rates even after two weeks.

I didn't say that the states couldn't all be wrong, but there are plenty of reasons that the two situations aren't comparable and plenty of reasons to expect that the red states would have gladly use constitutionalilty as an excuse to not implement them if they felt they had any choice. I take your point, though.

Perhaps. I could point out that today's medical technology is so much more advanced compared to the last comparable incident (1968) that we should expect dramatically fewer deaths, both in absolute and relative terms. Note that this is exactly what occurred during the most recent pandemic way back in 2009 when we *had* a president and "only" ~12k died.

Really?? Here they are pretty much the last to be allowed to open. They have been shut for 6 weeks now, and the suggestion is they might be finally about to open next week or the week after now that our daily new cases has started to hit 0 occasionally.

Surely with hairdressing you inevitably have two people breathing the same air and in physical contact?

Atheism is the cult of death, the death of hope. The universe is doomed, you are doomed, the only thing that remains is to await your execution...
