I'm curious as to whether the response from the Trump supporters here leans more toward:

    1. "This section of the constitution hasn't historically been very relevant because the Presidents weren't from an international business background. This section wasn't designed with someone like Trump in mind, and is too onerous on a modern businessman, and it's unreasonable to expect Trump to follow it, and it should be discarded as a historic relic. Possibly an amendment should be passed to formally remove this provision."

    or

    2. "Trump knows what he's doing. I believe in him. His lawyers will have made sure his business dealings are fully legal and constitutional. Because I believe that Trump will have adhered to the law and constitution, I believe there will be no case here."

    or possibly,

    3. "Without knowing anything much about this historical part of the constitution nor having any particular opinion on Trump's business dealings, I'm used to political parties doing fishing expeditions. I believe this to be just the latest political fishing expedition. This must just be the latest version of Dems being mad they didn't win the election. So I assume there's no merits to it."
"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

Next time Trump goes for a game of golf, someone should change the locks on the front door of the White House, and put all the lights out. If no one answers the door bell, he might just go away.

Sreiously? You haven't heard that one, MM. Trump thinks that "Article 2 gives him the right to do whatever he wants as President" He was also under the impression that he has total authority over the states. If you stuck you head outside of the bubble now and then you might learn something about the mindset of your hero.

So Trump never actually said, "The Constitution says I can do whatever I want."

He was asked what Constitutional provisions give him authority to reopen state economies. He said, "Numerous provisions. We'll give you a legal brief if you want." He was asked again, to which he replied, "The authority is total. That's the way it's got to be." Context matters, Jimmy.

Multiple sound bites without context. Very convincing.

When you have a link which provides context you paste it. You pasted nothing.

You didn't read the article again, did you MM? For one thing, the Constitution does not give Trump the authority to reopen state economies. What are you a federalist now? For another thing, read a few lines below the couple of lines you read until you come to the Article 2 quote. "Article 2 gives me the right to do whatever I want as president."
So, "My authority is total. That's the way it's got to be." and "Article 2 gives me the right to do whatever I want as president." If that doesn't give you pause, then it must be because you're okay with the idea.

Be honest, what would you be saying if those words came out of Obama's mouth?
