It depends if the lack of evidence is politically motivated. Politics can make people hide things, if required, or to say things that are not true. In this imperfect world, there are people that are untouchable.

For example: He has also been found guilty of his involvement in the 'Trump University,' and still faces law suits for his involvement.Last edited by shunyadragon; 05-26-2020, 08:53 PM.

One thing to keep in mind - you, we, all of us are next! Twitter tags Trump tweet with fact-checking warning
Looks like Trump might want to find a new place to share his lies:
President Trump tweeted: "There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent."
Twitter put a warning label under the post and a subsequent tweet under its new policy on misleading information.Twitter's link directs users to a page on which Mr Trump's claims about mail-in ballots are described as "unsubstantiated". The social media company cites reporting on the issue by CNN, the Washington Post and others.
This is followed by a "what you need to know" section where Twitter corrects what it says are false claims by the US president.
The social media company had pledged to increase the warning labels under false or misleading information on its site - but it has been slow to take steps against the US president.
Following the firm's decision to label his tweets as misleading, he claimed on Twitter that the company was stifling free speech and that he wouldn't allow it. But Twitter as a private company gets to set its own rules for what happens on its platform.
The trouble for many was that up until Tuesday the firm didn't seem to be enforcing its rules when it came to the US president or other global leaders.
It sees the new labelling system as a way to balance both the desire to allow Twitter users including the president to say what they like, while also giving readers protection against misleading claims. The strategy mostly worked with tweets about Covid-19.

I'm glad that we have a large private company taking on the heavy responsibility of telling me what is and isn't true. I appreciate their sacrificing profits in order to put in place a system that will relieve me of the burden of making my own evaluations of things public figures say.
I sleep more peacefully knowing Twitter is so altruistically looking out for my best interests....>>> Witty remark or snarky quote of another poster goes here <<<...

A large percentage of the population seems prone to believing falsehoods they see spouted on these platforms, so it seems pretty clearly in the public interest to take any easily available steps to correct that. Sticking a link to the truth/correction beside the person's false statement seems a non-invasive way of warning the gullible that there might be an issue with the claim. Intelligent people can make up their own minds of course, but people who were about to take the claim on faith can thus be informed that perhaps they should think twice before believing it.
Lawmakers seem to have made it clear to Twitter and Facebook that if they didn't do something to stem the flood of falsehoods on their platforms, there would be some sort of regulation requiring them to. So we are beginning to see them implement systems to try and prevent laws being passed.
Facebook has dubiously employed a pretty extreme and dodgy right wing group to help do their fact-checking. So I'm not expecting much in terms of quality from them. It will be interesting to see if we end up needing fact checking of the fact checkers, or rules around who is a valid fact checker."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

Will Trump supporters ever recognize what an immoral, disgusting, sociopathic narcisist of a human being it is
that they are supporting?
And after the collusion delusion was repeatedly exposed as a hoax, after Trump was repeatedly called a traitor who sold out the country by folks like Scarborough, did any of them apologize? No. Not one. In fact they actually congratulated themselves on what a terrific job they had done covering it Worse, they continued employing the same tactics.
So while I don't know why he bothers, and I really wish he wouldn't, I can understand how turn about is fair play. The fact is that Scarborough and his ilk aren't victims but rather bullies getting a taste of their own medicine.
PS: Scarborough hasn't been a Republican for quite awhile now though he only officially left the party a few years ago.
I'm always still in trouble again
