  • Arrest All Protesters....

Dozen of people across the country have been arrested and fined for violating social distancing orders. Our churches here in my state sill can not open. Yet we have hundreds and thousands of protesters marching arm and arm and shoulder to shoulder. Why the double standard? If we have a spike of infections can we blame these people?

There's no double standard; unlawful protesters are being arrested, too.

If there's an infection spike, yes.

Of course there is a double standard - all theses protesters are violating social distancing orders. For instance recently 50 people were handcuffed, summoned and fined for violating social distancing orders (see link). Yet last night in Brooklyn (same town) hundreds of protesters were clearly seen violating said orders - no one was arrested for violating social distancing orders.

For one thing it's ridicuously impractical. They don't have the space. They've already been releasing prisoners because of Covid-19 and the crowded prisons as it is. And for another that wouldn't solve the problem, which isn't just about George Floyd, it's about the injustice in the system. Address the cause and you'll fix the problem. If you don't address and fix the underlying injustices then you're going to have protests, and if there are protests you;re going to have radical infiltrators fomenting violence.

Maybe they can put the arrested protesters in all the empty nursing homes where everybody's died from Wuhan.

Somehow I don't think more police brutality would be the right answer to that situation.

Let's be honest, these "protests" have little if anything to do with "police brutality". History shows that people actually need very little provocation to destroy and steal. Heck, police departments have to go on high alert whenever a hometown sports team is in a championship game because it's not unusual for the fans to "celebrate" a win by rioting and looting.

That's not a double standard. That's the physical impossibility of enforcing laws being violated by massive numbers of people.

You're not going to see any tickets for jaywalking, either...

The majority of the protests were entirely peaceful. There's plenty of videos showing the police starting to shoot rubber bullets at journalists even. What we're seeing is that by classifying peaceful protests as riots, the police gets to shut down protest.

Well no Jim, you probably wouldn't have to arrest too many before the rest got the message. And what underlying injustices are you speaking of?

So following the law is police brutality?

And there's plenty of videos of people destroying property and robbing local businesses.
