Female - ChristianWarning Labels on Condoms
I guess if they put warnings on cigarettes, they might as well put warnings on condoms. Condoms aren't 100% effective against all STD's (though they are better than nothing at all.) Would warning labels on condoms make some people think twice before indulging in the horizontal mambo with that androgynous individual from the bar known only as "Candy?"
Who would read the label on a condom box anyway? (perhaps I should quantify that- guys read instructions about as often as they ask for directions when lost- I cringe when my husband tries to assemble anything, but women might read the box... and they likely buy condoms more than men do)
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...m-labels_x.htmThe Bush administration is considering requiring warning labels on condom packages noting that the contraceptive devices do not protect users from all sexually transmitted diseases. Most recent studies indicate condoms do not safeguard against human papillomavirus, or HPV, a little-known but widespread sexually transmitted disease that, untreated, can cause genital warts or cervical cancer."Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed" - Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)

They already have warning labels. At least the ones I use do.

(I'm still trying to find the name of the pastor over in the US that tells everyone that condoms have holes in them - Ginger bloke, goatee? Any idea? Does the purity drives, uses used toothbrushes to try and make a point. Sorry the thread just reminded me I was supposed to find out his name.)
Strange thing to say....but women might read the box... and they likely buy condoms more than men do)

Female - ChristianFlotation Devices and Nascar Fans
AA-
I agree, a condom would not be a good flotation device. We did blow them up like balloons for a very conservative friend of mine's bridal shower which was a hoot! She had never seen condoms before and commented on the "strange balloons." I can only imagine what her wedding night was like (she and her husband were both virgins) but they must have figured it out because they have two kids now.
As to hairy-backed NASCAR fans, perhaps I don't have as much appreciation for the redneck arts (NASCAR, country music, tobacco-chewing, etc.) as others might. And if NASCAR fans were honest they'd admit they watch the races for two reasons: 1. it's interesting when they wreck or 2. they bet money on #whoever in the pool at work."Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed" - Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)

March 12th 2004, 04:51 PM #8- Only a select few of us know that MM.Did you know that every condom has a serial number?
The condom has to be unrolled all the way to see the number.

Isn't there a Friends episode about this? Where Joey finds out that a condom is not 100% secure.

March 12th 2004, 07:01 PM #12I always have to unroll them all the way but I guess I should paid more attention to that serial number thing instead of concentrating too much on the other stuff going on. I just don't know if that would be any help though since I am quite a prude and the room has to be dark or I am not taking anything off.

Do you know anyone who thinks condoms are 100% secure? I don't.

Female - ChristianKids...
I had to correct my son (age 12) and his little buddies. One of his friends had gotten (and I don't want to know how) a box of condoms supposedly from his older brother and was passing them out. I must say the varieties available are colorful- glow in the dark, camo, etc...
My son came home with a pocket full of condoms. He pulled them out and said "I'm good to go now! As long as I use a rubber I can have sex!" I told him, "but you can still get certain diseases even if you use a rubber, and you can still get a girl pregnant if it breaks."
So now he knows condoms are not 100% effective, as well as his little buddy who was with him, but who knows what the other kids think? Teens have an uncanny ability to believe they are ten feet tall and bulletproof. They may trust condoms more than they should (though I agree, if they are going to have sex, better to use condoms than not to use condoms...though the only 100% effective prevention is abstinence.) My concern is the kids will think condom=bulletproof, which isn't true."Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed" - Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)

Sounds like a good argument for comprehensive sex education.
