    Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

I'm glad I don't live on either coast. The leftist nutjobs have taken over.

I don't know what angle "The City Journal" normally takes (never heard of them before) but this story can be found from several sources.

Seattle’s hard-Left secessionist movement has claimed its first territory: six blocks in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

For the past week, Black Lives Matter and Antifa-affiliated activists have engaged in a pitched battle with Seattle police officers and National Guard soldiers in the neighborhood, with the heaviest conflict occurring at the intersection of 11th and Pike, where law enforcement had constructed a barricade to defend the Seattle Police East Precinct building. Hoping to break through the barricade, protesters attacked officers with bricks, bottles, rocks, and improvised explosive devices, sending some officers to the hospital. At the same time, activists circulated videos of the conflict and accused the police of brutality, demanding that the city cease using teargas and other anti-riot techniques.

Then, in a stunning turn of events, the City of Seattle made the decision to abandon the East Precinct and surrender the neighborhood to the protesters. “This is an exercise in trust and de-escalation,” explained Chief Carmen Best. Officers and National Guardsmen emptied out the facility, boarded it up, and retreated. Immediately afterward, Black Lives Matter protesters, Antifa black shirts, and armed members of the hard-Left John Brown Gun Club seized control of the neighborhood, moved the barricades into a defensive position, and declared it the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone—even putting up a cardboard sign at the barricades declaring “you are now leaving the USA.” (more...)

I never thought this would spread so fast and so pervasive. You got folks pulling down statues, decapitating statues, demanding folks be fired for some of the dumbest things, demanding we defund or abolish the police. It's wild wild west of the leftist loons.

The most amazing part is that the police and National Guard were ordered to abandon the area. Ordered! People have property and businesses in there and they were abandoned by the tax-paid public servants and National Guard and left to the anarchists.

Utterly amazing. I'd want that mayor run out of the state on a rail.

I agree. It is absolute *madness* that armed protestors would take over a state capitol. We should just give 'em both barrels and let the gods sort it out.

    BTW

So, this isn't from a news organization. Where else have you seen this story?

I did some quick searching and nothing credible showed up. I think this would be big news so it should be reported *somewhere* other than Russian propaganda (rt.com), fringe websites, and a drunk (Gaetz).

These protesters also threw bricks and other stuff at police, rioted, and looted and burnt? These protesters were breaking the law at their protest?

MSM downplays the antics of antifa and BLM, ESPECIALLY the latter. This wouldn't square with the positive PR spin of these particular leftist groups. Also, RT is pro-BLM.

"These protestors" don't seem to actually exist. Unless *you* have a credible report of the information in the OP.

Convince me that RT is "pro-BLM" and it isn't the case that RT is "pro chaos in America." Do you know how minorities are treated in Russia? Do you think there is a lot of "pro-BLM" messaging in terms of their domestic population?

The ones in the photo you posted don't exist? Then why post it?

You were apparently drawing a comparison between two groups (whether or not either was real): 'Black Lives Matter and Antifa-affiliated activists' and 'the ones in the photo'.

But one group violently and illegally has taken over part of a city, with barricades. The other group (AFAIK) legally and non-violently protested, and then went home.

You used 'these protestors' twice so I didn't realize my comment was made ambiguous by your ambiguous comment.

Obviously I was only referring to the first 'these protestors' (i.e. those from the OP).
