Now I'm sure that the Democrats perhaps didn't know what they were doing really, and practically I couldn't care less if the Ashanti engaged in slavery in the past over a hundred years ago, well before I was born but considering that everybody else is having to recognise the sins of the past for things they personally didn't do then does count also?

The Ashanti live in Ashanti specifically in Ashanti capital Kumasi metropolis and due to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, a known diaspora of Ashanti exists in the Caribbean, particularly in Jamaica. Slaves captured by the Ashantis and sold to the British and the Dutch along the coasts were sent to the West Indies, particularly Jamaica, Barbados, Netherlands Antilles, British Virgin Islands.
