The Passion of the Christ My Take and Comments

      By R. Adam Quigley

Natural Spirit Ministries - http://www.christianity.com/partner/...746270,00.html Simple overview of the movie from myself:

Even before this movie came out I knew I had to see it. Was it going to be the anti-Semitic movie that a lot of groups were claiming it to be, or was it going to be the most powerful view ever set out in movie making of Christ’s crucifixion? I for one was not going to let anyone else’s views of this movie cloud my thoughts as to what I was going to see. As it turns out I whole heartily agree with Mel Gibson’s (paraphrase quote) “I didn’t make a movie experience but an experience”.

This movie portrays the most defining moment of human history. Just the name of Jesus can bring a person to their knees or launch a war. His teachings are heard around the world, but His death and resurrection is the most known. Those last twelve hours proved to the world that Christ willingly gave the ultimate bounty to free what we are enslaved to. Sin.

At the beginning of the movie you can almost sense and feel the agony Jesus was going through, when faced with knowing what was to come. After setting His heart to what God had ordained He boldly went forward and changed the course of human history.

Imagine the wacky star of Lethal Weapon and Mad Max making a film about Jesus. You might think “what kind of cheesy effects or language”, are you going to see? Gibson has crafted a masterpiece geared to leave you thinking, crying, wondering and mostly dazed. His use of the original languages allows you to hear how it might have happened while making you read the subtitles to really let it sink in. As the whole series of events play out your forced to realize Gibson was not going to spare anyone from seeing how Christ suffered. Even in the moments Christ was not in the main focus you could hear the straps used to tear into His back. The looks of concern and satisfaction of the other characters shows how the emotion and horror of what was happening carried even away from the torture.

Some may wonder why I did not add more to this article or have left so much out. To tell you the truth I am still having trouble processing everything I saw in this movie. I may never actually come to terms with the idea Christ did so much for me but I am joyful He did. Should you go see this movie? Yes. I have no reservations about recommending this movie. Parents should caution any teens seeing it and small children should be excluded. Parting thought:
A friend had commented to me after seeing the Passion movie how he would never have a problem talking to people about Christ now. I asked why and he told me he used to be embarrassed to share his faith because it was uncomfortable, but after seeing what Jesus went through to pay for his sins he could never let Him down again. Can you?

, I agree the movie is an experience, not just a movie. I want to go see it again, but in all honesty, I don't know if I could. At least not anytime soon. Thanks for your comments on the movie and I can truly relate to it "still sinking in".
If I have a mystical experience, an experience that's so overwhelming that I know now that there's a God, the cognitive fallout from that is irrelevant. The fact that that experience can be explained by psychologists in numerous ways is irrelevant to the fact that I now know.

I have enjoyed really muchhearing about it whichis as close as I can handle. I have obsessvie and destructive thought patterns that don't do well with violence, so it is not a good idea for me to see it, but I have been so edified hearing about it and lsitening to Mel in interviews.

Amen. First thing I did was go home and write on my Xanga site... It's the least coherent thing Ive ever written in my life. :o) I saw it on ash Wednesday, and it's *still* sinking in.
Alas, my love, you do me wrong to cast me off thus discourteously, for I have loved you true, and long.

even after this amount of time it's still hard to let it sink in.
