Ah, then there was the time I was in a bar (on official business) and we had just ended a fight as another officer came into the bar.

The newly arrived officer asked me if there was anybody he should question.
I pointed to the corner to a white lady who had been involved in another fight the night before, same bar, and said "that lady with the black eye".

One of the black combatants got furious and told me it was none of my business that a white woman would have drinks "with a brother", and proceeded to cuss me out as a racist.

It took a minute to figure out that he heard "black eye" and thought "black guy".
