  • Bolton's Book

Loathsome man but it sounds like a real page turner.

Is Trump really that stupid? He did not [apparently] know that the UK had nuclear weapons [despite the fact that the UK's nuclear capability is controlled by the US] and he thought Finland was part of Russia!

Likewise Mary Trump's revelation sounds equally "juicy". I liked her brother Fred's comment that their family "put the 'fun' in dysfunctional".

You have to ask what sort of man removes medical insurance for a desperately ill child.

Two for the holiday reading list.

    The things that you're liable
    To read in the Bible
    It ain't necessarily so

Since Bolton's lawyer openly and unwittingly admitted that Bolton broke the law, the chances of his book ever seeing the light of day are slim to none.

[Bolton's lawyer] Chuck Cooper, wrote a Wall Street Journal op-ed this week intended to put public pressure on the White House. In it, Cooper volunteered that Bolton had violated both his NDA and perhaps a few criminal laws, including the Espionage Act. Now, even if Bolton’s book is never released, he is facing stiff penalties. As unforced legal errors go, that’s a doozy.

Here are the two sentences that could cost Bolton a big stack of money, or worse: “He instructed me, as his lawyer, to submit the manuscript to Ellen Knight, the NSC’s senior director for prepublication review of materials written by NSC personnel. I sent Ms. Knight the manuscript on Dec. 30, days after the House had impeached the president and amid speculation that the Senate would subpoena Mr. Bolton to testify.”

See, here’s the thing about prepublication review: “Publication” means giving potentially classified information to anyone the government has not approved to receive it. Bolton and his lawyer committed one of the classic blunders that a national-security lawyer would have seen coming a mile away. Simply put, someone who has signed an NDA and received a clearance has to put anything they want to write through prepublication review before they can give it to anyone. Even their lawyer.

Yes, he really is; everyone in this country knows it.

Even his supporters know this, but are going to talk about something else because they're embarrassed.

Remember when he tried to buy Greenland? Remember when he revealed classified information to the Russian ambassador - in the white house? Remember when he said "No one knew healthcare would be this difficult"?

He's an idiot of inestimable magnitude.

ps. that's an obscure 80s movie reference...

The scary thing is that this dangerous (I think) ignoramus has control over nuclear weapons.

I had totally forgotten about that, but in my defense, let me say that there have been so many "Trumpian moments" that it's difficult to remember them all.

Incidentally, Conan O'Brien went to Greenland and attempted to buy it for Trump but, alas, he was unsuccessful:

Perhaps Bolton will take his cue from the remark attributed to Arthur Wellesley, aka The Duke of Wellington!

Of course he could also publish abroad. In the 1980s the writer of Spycatcher did precisely that to avoid the attempts by the Brits [in other words Mrs Thatcher] to prevent the book's publication.

Although I sometimes wonder if he tried it, would some sensible military type just shoot him?

I think Mary Trump's book might be the juiciest - revenge is a dish best taken cold!

You keep repeating this nutty claim... but the book has already shipped to distributors. Many people already have copies. Stephen Colbert holds up his copy of the book to the camera whenever he does a segment on it.

The lawsuits currently active are targeting Bolton's profits that he'll make from the book.

The book has already seen the light of day. And not only that, the book in its unredacted form has already seen the light of day. If trump is able to stop the publishing of it, well see all of it, unredacted, on the internet, or published overseas and sold here. The only problem I see here is that Bolton sacrificed his county's well being, not to mention 10's of thousands of lives at least through the utter irresponsibility of Trump wrt covid19, for $$$ by not simply telling what he knew during the impeachment.

The fact you care more about preserving the silence over what Trump has done makes you an equal traitor to this country, and equally culpable in the loss of those lives, and the lives yet to be lost through this rally and the irresponsible push to reopen and pushback against mask wearing.

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

I noticed that he was more concerned with it being withheld too - which is odd, as you know he'll never admit any fault with whatever comes out and whoever says anything negative about Trump. So seeing as he'll make excuses or whatever is established I don't know why he cares so much about it being kept silent.

The contents have already seen the light of day, the contents are now public, and the judge is skeptical about the suit to prevent it.
