Didn't God scold Job's "friends" for claiming Job deserved what happened? And Jesus corrected the disciples when they thought congenital blindness was the result of the man or his parents sinning. And yet people still try to claim natural disasters have got to be a punishment from God instead of humans happening to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Those disasters often have a good purpose in maintaining life on Earth. Hurricanes help mix up the oceans and air. Earthquakes are a side effect of plate tectonics.
