      AtheistArchon...GET A JOB!

AtheistArchon, I have an experiment that you might want to help with.

You have said two or three times before that you want to open a Christian bookstore. For whatever reason, I don't care either way, I'd buy from you.

      So, here's the experiment...

My initial guess is that Family Christian Stores and any other Christian bookstore needs to comply with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) which states that by law, an employer cannot discriminate against an employee's or an applicant's religious affiliation/preference.

So, I would love to see how this plays out.

AtheistArchon, would you mind applying for a job at one of these stores? (I'm certain you don't need a job, this is just for experiment.) Make sure and be professional and give them no reason not to hire you. At some time during this process, make sure they know that you are an Atheist!

During this process, they are sure to ask you why you, an atheist, would want to work there. Simply tell them something like "Job Security". You can see they have steady traffic and good sales rates and appear to be solid company. Or whatever you want.

Now, I want to see if they discriminate against you.

Even if you don't want to participate in this experiment, what do you and everyone here think of the scenario? Personally, I'd hire you (provided your skills matched what I needed).

      Excited to see your response.

Actually Ru-Tang, I'm serious. I want to see how far he gets. Like I said, I'd hire him if I had a Christian bookstore.

      Meanwhile 5 months later:

      Newsmax August 22, 2004
Local Atheist Forces Closure of all Area Christian Bookstores

A single misotheist has single handedly closed down every Christian Bookstore within a 100 mile radius of his home. The activist 9th District Court of Appeals refused to hear an appeal from the lower court regarding a lawsuit dealing with employer discrimination. An atheist went into a christian book store with full intentions of never being hired. His whole plan, which must have been suggested and initiated by a secret group of atheists was to be denied employment after freely noting that he was an atheist.

Bob Jones, the owner of the local bookstore chose not to hire the person because he felt that he wasn't qualified with any previous bookstore experience. "I felt he wasn't capable enough to be a bookstore salesman. His faith or lack there of never entered the equation. As a christian I am very open to all cultures and philosophies, but I didn't think he was right for the job."

However, the atheist then sued the store for employment discrimination. And quickly after a few court cases, the atheist won a $57 million settlement for second hand smoke inhalation at the book store where he was interviewed. The owners weren't able to pay the atheist this much and therefore the judge offered the atheist a compromise. Instead of collecting the $57 million, the judge offered the two store owners' lives through indentured service for their lifetime instead. Bookstores throughout the area heard of this and had to help. Huge attempts were made to raise the $57 million so that the store owners wouldn't live the rest of their lives as indentured servents.

When all was said and done, these stores had to sell out to a large Adult Store chain who must also have been part of this huge conspiracy that was penned by an atheist. With the book stores sold, the atheist got his blood money and the christian stores within 100 miles are all forced closed, soon to be renovated into discount porn shops.

      - What happens though if they hire me? I'd have to give up the goat and say I was just testing them. Hmmm. Let me think about how to handle it.

Glad you like the idea. I've been thinking about it for years, but couldn't do it myself in good conscience.

I was going to say "Pray about how to handle it", but then, that wouldn't be right.

Jimmy, I actually thought about that once. But I don't think they'd have a problem hiring a Christian since Atheists are not evangelical. Meaning: Atheists don't usually have a concern in 'converting' others to their mode of 'non-belief'.

Whereas Christians are sometimes very concerned with evangelism and would probably feel that an Atheist working in their store would impede their mission.

      - I can't think of any good way to do it without really offending them, especially if they DID hire me and then I had to beg off and tell them it was a joke... they'd never believe it was a Christian minister that put me up to it. More likely they'd just feel made-fun-of. If I knew I could spare everyone hard feelings, I'd do it in an instant. Any ideas?

Maybe the atheists you have met. I have met several atheists who are very concerned with others converting to their system of belief.
