This may be the ACTUAL op/ed...

It's different from the one in the OP.

I think its just calcified a bit. Will be good to have the institutions shaken up. There's some weird old boys clubs in science. That being said I do miss working in a lab. I worked with scanning electron microscopes in an underground lab right next to a particle accelerator. It was fun times.

Cool..... we (Texas) had plans for a huge particle accelerator in Waxahachie Texas (super collider?) that was the talk of the town. I think it was partially built, then abandoned.
I got to tour the beginnings of the construction, but don't even know if they ever finished it.

Ah! Canceled in 1993 after spending $2B on it.

If that's true, why not let him present his case, then rebut it with contrary facts and explain to the hearers why it's erroneous? Isn't that what science is supposed to be?

This charge was always dismissed as a conspiracy theory. After all, the science establishment doesn't cover up facts or persecute other scientists searching for facts; they're only interested in truth, not opinion or bias. It's science!

Yeah, but the parts for the Supercollider that were built was used in the LHC instead so it wasn't a complete loss, except for a huge hole that was dug. The particle accelerator I showed is mainly used to generate synchrotron radiation in the form of extreme ultraviolette light and soft x-rays.

Was a nice lab, just as messy and garage like as most labs are in reality.

No. Science does not consist of refuting dishonesty.

I am starting to wonder whether knowledge itself is racist.

My wife works almost exclusively with PhDs at Texas A&M.
                          They are in two categories.
                          Teaching and "Extension" (Agriculture)

The ones in "Teaching" are generally "knowed up", arrogant, can't really fend for themselves, can't figure out how to work the copier...
The ones in "Extension" are far more "down to earth", friendly, self-sufficient, appreciative of any assistance...

                          SAME degrees, different applications.

Some knowledge in as far as it is wrong and hurts racial minorities is racist, or produced by racists, or based on racist presumptions. As for the institutes of science they're made up of people, and that's the problem.

It would seem 'some knowledge' is dangerous in the hands of humans.
