Denmark has steadfastedly avoided mask usage. Considering the prices and the fact that most people don't wear them correctly, it was decided that it wasn't worth the effort to do it in Denmark. Instead we relief on social distancing, regular hand sanitization, and remote work where possible. And this has proven to be an effective strategy.

Yes, even Bozo has started wearing masks (this governments original stance against mask wearing was more to do with a total lack of supplies after 10 years of Tory cut backs and austerity than how useful they were in controlling the spread of the virus. It's hard to tell doctors and nurses that surgical-grade masks aren't needed whilst simultaneously telling the public that face coverings are).

Though it is funny that there's a mini revolt amongst the more nutty reaches of the Tory membership against mask wearing as some sort of 'frightful imposition'. It does seem there's a sort of stupid brexity, trumpy whiff to this whole pig-ignorant distrust of wearing masks in the anglosphere at least, so it interesting to see what other countries are doing regarding them.

Given Denmark's death toll compared to the UK & US who are in the bottom of the global league tables regarding the response to the virus it appears that there's other factors involved.

Not to mention that most of those who do wear their masks properly are wearing ones that are about as effective as someone wearing fishnet stockings

I hate to say it, but the world might learn more from Denmark's possible mistakes. If one nation did nothing but hand sanitizer, and another nothing but masks, and another nothing but social distancing (etc.) we'll all learn what is/isn't the most effective.

I'm kinda like Paul's teaching on the weaker brother concept.

When I'm around our people at Church who are nervous about the virus, and believe that masks help, I wear a mask
When I'm around people who don't think it's a big deal, I maintain social distancing, but don't wear a mask.

I's a very small inconvenience for me.

Apparently Denmark is changing that policy and is now recommending the use of masks. Live and learn, or learn and live.

There are no public recommendations about masks for the public. Itís the same where it is almost exclusively doctors and nurses wearing them.

Thank you, brother Jim, for that late-breaking, yet incomplete update. Denmark is recommending the use of masks in CERTAIN SITUATIONS, not across the board.

Denmark recommends wearing face masks to curb virus

Denmark announced Thursday that it was now recommending that people wear face masks in certain circumstances due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Health authorities had previously deemed the wearing of face masks in public spaces unnecessary but changed their recommendation following advice from the World Health Organization (WHO) in late June.

"Masks can be used to protect others in certain situations, when other tools to prevent the spread are not enough," deputy director of the Danish Health Authority Helene Probst, said in a statement.

Situations in which the wearing of face masks is now recommended include hospital visits for virus testing, transport from a risk area to an airport and when caring for relatives with COVID-19.

"Our most important recommendation is that if you are infected or could be infected with COVID-19 you should isolate yourself," Probst added.

However, the health authority maintains that the most effective measures in curbing the spread are still isolating those infected, social distancing and scrupulous hygiene routines.

So, they've changed their policy and now understand that mask wearing is effective which of course is an obvious fact. And if the wearing of masks is effective in certain circumstances then it's obviously effective in all circumstances where you are interacting with other people.
