No - trump did NOT follow the advice of experts. He dragged his feet every step and ignored DIRE warnings not to reopen too early. He gave no National Shutdown order, leaving it up to the states, but he made clear he did not like the idea, and many republicans followed his lead. This continued with reopening and mask wearing. And he has bragged about asking his staff to slow down testing. And he continues to try to promote that idea that if we stop testing, the problem goes away.
As for your chart: Come on sparko! Look at the slopes of the lines. You are using this chart like propaganda. ALL the European countries with the exception of United Kingdom and Sweden have horizontal or nearly horizontal lines. That means their deaths are no longer growing, because their cases are only slightly growing. They have tamed the virus. The UK, US, and Sweden are the ones that have NOT taken aggressive action to contain growth, and they have NOT tamed the virus. It's effects are still growing there and here.
What this means is that the numbers for most of europe are not changing much, unlike in the US where the number of cases is growing and yesterday was 71,750.
For the EU, we have
Austria: 133, Belgium: 91, Bulgaria: 232, Croatia: 126, Cyprus: 2, Chech RP: 134, Denmark: 31, Estonia: 1, Finland: 0, France: 416, Germany: 486, Greece: 27, Hungary: 5, Ireland: 13, Italy: 162, Latvia: 4, Lithuania: 35, Luxembourg: 66, Malta: 0, Netherlands: 106, Poland: 264, Portugal: 375, Romania: 641, Slovakia: 19, Slovenia: 19, Spain: 875
TOT1: 4263
Sweden:125, UK:538
TOT2: 683
GRAND TOTAL EU=4946
71,750 yesterday in a population of 329,000,000 vs
4946 yesterday in a population of 446,000,000.
THAT is called ineptitude. This is 26 of 28 EU countries that have control. UK has a leader more like our own, and Sweden tried (and failed) to not shutdown. And with all that, in terms of the current containment of the virus, the US is way behind ALL of them in terms of growth. Yes, some of them hit harder early on have more deaths/million, but that will not last long. We had the benefit of more time and we have lost the battle to this point, whereas they have turned it around - because they tested, and contract traced, and shutdown, and most of all have taken it seriously.
Disease spread is an exponential process. If you can keep the numbers small and you act aggressively and smartly when the numbers are small you are in control. If you don't, the virus is in control. In the US, the virus is in control.Last edited by JimL; 07-16-2020, 03:50 PM.

The nation of origin doesn’t matter if you bungle the response. Trump continues to bungle the response, now calling mask wearing “patriotic.”
