I understand your point. Of course, I have no way to measure if there was an impact or not. I have noticed the local civil rights leaders out for other events during the pandemic. This makes me wonder if BLM is a young person's movement and disconnected from the older civil rights leadership.

      Yes.

Other than lead in the water causing mass brain damage in the area, not much else I can think of would cause that level of mass hysteria.

BLM was founded by people who were proudly claiming to be "Marxist trained".
You misunderstood an offhand statement one of the people in it made.

                    "protests"

During the same time the MSM was telling folks that the Chicom coronavirus was not really a big deal?

And it is also interesting to note that as late as February 28th the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine published a paper saying that the virus seemed to be much less severe than other recent outbreaks of respiratory illnesses and would likely be no worse than a severe flu season:

Source: Clinical Characteristics of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in China

The overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.

I am so sorry. I had absolutely no idea that the Leader of the Free World relied solely on the MSM for his information.

I understood, clearly incorrectly, that the POTUS had an administration composed of various individuals whose job it was to alert him to potential risks and threats from both within, and outside, of the US and the possible problems and issues that such threats may pose to the USA and its citizens.

I have obviously been very much mistaken.

You appear to have missed the article from the New England Journal of Medicine.

The point that you clearly missed as it sailed over your head was that early on was that virtually everyone was downplaying its severity, primarily due to the Chicoms deliberately lying about its severity and how it was transmitted.
