It's meaningful to her and brings her comfort.

In all probability you experienced something like a dust-devil - a mini vortex. The piece of plant material was quite small - 15-18 cm - and light. The other option is you hallucinated the entire incident. Hallucinations can appear very real and people often claim they were "wide awake" when they experienced them."It ain't necessarily so
