    Give none, get none.

Trump says he won’t go and pay respects to John Lewis at Capitol

Donald Trump, who in recent weeks has stirred racial tensions, says he has no plans to visit the late Congressman John Lewis as the civil rights icon lies in state at the US Capitol.

"No I won't be going," the president said. "No."

It's looking more and more like he's not interested in a second term...

    From USA Today....

“I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president,” Lewis told NBC's "Meet the Press" a week before the inauguration in January 2017. "I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected and they have destroyed the candidacy of Hillary Clinton."

Lewis also refused to attend events where Trump would be present, including the dedication of a civil rights museum in Mississippi.

And NOW you know.... the rest of the story. (Though I still think it's incredibly petty of Trump)

The article didn't mention Trump's reasoning for not going, so I will withhold judgement until we get the full story.

That's what I noticed first off! So I went looking.

While I suspect it could well be a grudge because of Lewis' tremendous disrespect for Trump, it would just as well be "If I were there, it would all be about, and I don't want to distract from the significance of the event".

That's what I was thinking. It could very well be that Trump doesn't want to be a distraction, or perhaps he was quietly asked not to attend. It could also be the case that Trump is simply being petty. I really have no idea.

It's like when a President visits a disaster area -- his very presence there can cause more disruption to needed services, so he'll get criticized if he goes, and criticized if he doesn't.

I suspect that no matter what decision he makes, and for whatever reason, he will be damned by somebody for doing it.

So? It's not like Lewis or his family would want Trump there anyway. No biggie.

That's the thing about paying respect to someone, though. It's a positive statement about the person, often done in-spite of your actual relationship with them.

Is it a big deal? In the grand scheme of things, no. But it would have taken very little effort, made Trump look like more than an adolescent playing at being a statesman, and probably would have appealed to some African Americans he's trying to get votes from. It also would have stuck a thumb in the eye of people who insist he's a racist.

But no. He couldn't rise to the challenge we repeatedly saw young kids conquering on TV today.

Trumpster! Thats not how Presidents, how real leaders act, regardless of differences. It's how they further the divide.

And that would be yet another lie, as I've already said "Though I still think it's incredibly petty of Trump".

Jim, are you maybe jealous that we have some new dummies on Tweb, and you're trying to prove you are by far the DUMBEST?
