Christianity 201 Guidelines

orthodox Christians only.

Discussion on matters of general mainstream evangelical Christian theology that do not fit within Theology 201. Have some spiritual gifts ceased today? Is the KJV the only viable translation for the church today? In what sense are the books of the bible inspired and what are those books? Church government? Modern day prophets and apostles?

This forum is primarily for Christians to discuss matters of Christian doctrine, and is not the area for debate between atheists (or those opposing orthodox Christianity) and Christians. Inquiring atheists (or sincere seekers/doubters/unorthodox) seeking only Christian participation and having demonstrated a manner that does not seek to undermine the orthodox Christian faith of others are also welcome, but must seek Moderator permission first. When defining “Christian” or "orthodox" for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment. Persons not holding to these core doctrines are welcome to participate in the Comparative Religions section without restriction, in Theology 201 as regards to the nature of God and salvation with limited restrictions, and in Christology for issues surrounding the person of Christ and the Trinity. Atheists are welcome to discuss and debate these issues in the Apologetics 301 forum without such restrictions.

Additionally and rarely, there may be some topics or lines of discussion that within the Moderator's discretion fall so outside the bounds of mainstream orthodox doctrine (in general Christian circles or in the TheologyWeb community) or that deny certain core values that are the Christian convictions of forum leadership that may be more appropriately placed within Unorthodox Theology 201. NO personal offense should be taken by such discretionary decision for none is intended. While inerrancy is NOT considered a requirement for posting in this section, a general respect for the Bible text and a respect for the inerrantist position of others is requested.

The Tweb rules apply here like they do everywhere at Tweb, if you haven't read them, now would be a good time.

  • A false prophet? A warning

The doctor that Trump has been following has been widely panned for her beliefs about sex with demons and lizard people running the world, but what concerns me here is the prophecy she made in Jesus's name that God would take down the Twitter server if Trump had posts taken down (which he did yesterday). In the Old Testament, making a false prophecy was a capital offense. (See Jeremiah 29). If this does not happen, she is a false prophet biblically speaking. Christians who like to retweet Trump need to be very careful here.

What is the relevance of either of those statements? There is no biblical exception for non-spiritual leaders not being held accountable for making false prophecies, and Trump wasn't even the person I was talking about making the prophecy. And I didn't say anything about Beth Moore at all.

You said "Christians who like to retweet Trump need to be very careful here." Trump is not a spiritual leader, so I don't think retweeting him is something to be careful on wrt the Deuteronomy prohibitions. And Beth Moore is a moonbat, not a prophet. She's been exposed as a false prophet long before she got involved with the Donald.

The article doesn't say anything about Beth Moore at all (are you thinking of Paula White?) It's about Stella Immanuel, who is being brought to the mainstream right now by Trump. The issue would be with retweeting her after reading about her from Trump.

(I did slightly misread one thing; the prophecy is about her own materials being taken down, not Trump's).

I've only seen the one video about HCQ.

Yeah, she's dumb too. But if someone dumb can make a point you agree with, wouldn't you repeat it?

I read Stella Immanuel site. She seems big into hyper Charismatic theology.

In a spiritual context, I probably wouldn't. A Jehovah's Witness might say many things that I theologically agree with but I probably would find somebody else to quote to avoid giving the wrong impression. It's a little murkier when we go outside the realm of spirituality. This woman's beliefs about science seem to be infused with spirituality so she would probably be best left alone by Christians in my opinion (there are other doctors who are promoting HCQ).

In my opinion, that Trump is retweeting her indicates how poor his Christian discipleship has been. I wonder how much he's actually studied versus just picked up from interacting with people.

Since Paula White is his "spiritual adviser", I don't hold out much hope for his Christian discipleship. He is being led astray.

I have my doubts that Trump is Christian at all. Paula White, the lady who "converted" him is a word of faith nutjob.

Pedantic observation: People are using the present-tense "retweeting." AFAIK -- and since I don't have Twitter, I could well be incorrect -- Bad Orange Man has only retweeted about her *once*, that being a retweet of a tweet by Don Jr., in which Junior said only that the video was a "must watch," or words to that effect, not that everything about the woman was correct, or even that her claims in the video itself were undeniable.
