  • Nadler: Antifa violence is a myth

Rep. Jerry Nadler says Antifa violence in Portland a 'myth'

“I ran into Jerry Nadler in DC and asked him to disavow the Antifa violence/rioting in Portland. His response? ‘THAT’S A MYTH,’” Mr. Fletcher said in a tweet along with the video.

“It is true,” Mr. Fletcher tells Mr. Nadler in the video. “There’s violence across the whole country. Do you disavow the violence from Antifa that’s happening in Portland right now? There’s riots—”

“That’s a myth that’s being spread only in Washington, D.C.,” Mr. Nadler responded.

“About Antifa in Portland?” Mr. Fletcher asked.

“Yes,” Mr. Nadler replied before a staffer nudged him to get into the vehicle.

“Sir, there’s videos everywhere online,” Mr. Fletcher continued. “There’s fires and riots, they’re throwing fireworks at federal officers. DHS is there. Look online. It gets crazy, Mr. Nadler.”

The New York Democrat was slammed for his response, which came as Portland entered its 60th day of riots since the death of George Floyd.

Portland is the home of Rose City Antifa, the oldest known so-called anti-fascist group in the country.

That was in his opening attack on Barr in the other thread.

      bolding mine

I just want to close with this thought. You really can’t hide behind legal fictions this time, Mr. Barr. It’s all out in the open where the people can see what you are doing for themselves. The president wants footage for his campaign ads, and you appear to be serving it up to him as ordered. In most of these cities, the protests had begun to wind down before you marched in and confronted the protestors. And the protestors aren’t mobs. They are mothers, and veterans, and mayors. In this moment, real leadership would entail deescalation, collaboration, and looking for ways to peaceably resolve our differences. Instead you use pepper spray and truncheons on American citizens. You did it here in Washington. You did it in Lafayette Square. You expanded to Portland. And now you are projecting fear and violence nationwide in pursuit of obvious political objectives. Shame on you, Mr. Barr.

Here's where you can read the whole transcript.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

It is a myth, saying that there are videos of of fires and violence is not the same thing as showing the videos of Antifa causing fires and violence. You don't hear them accusing the many right wing supremecists, the Boogaloo boys, the proud boys etc etc do you? Of course not, that would not fit their narrative.

Nadler appears to be taking lessons from the skit with Joey Bishop in "A Guide For The Married Man" and hoping to gaslight people.

antifa's M.O. is violence. We've been subject to it over the years in a number of cities, where just like in Portland, their actions have been recorded and documented in detail. But little jimmy wants everyone to believe that they're nothing but a bunch of average Americans who never did nuthin' to nobody. And those folks arrested by the feds, with long time affiliations to antifa, were sitting at home minding their own business when they were rounded up, flown to Portland and framed.

You can do it yourself. I'd suggest looking at their actions in Berkeley in 2017 for a start. From the WaPo which tried to spin it but couldn't and by the title gave up:

Source: Black-clad antifa members attack peaceful right-wing demonstrators in Berkeley

Their faces hidden behind black bandannas and hoodies, about 100 anarchists and antifa— “anti-fascist” — members barreled into a protest Sunday afternoon in Berkeley’s Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park.

Jumping over plastic and concrete barriers, the group melted into a larger crowd of around 2,000 that had marched peacefully throughout the sunny afternoon for a “Rally Against Hate” gathering.

Shortly after, violence began to flare. A pepper-spray-wielding Trump supporter was smacked to the ground with homemade shields. Another was attacked by five black-clad antifa members, each windmilling kicks and punches into a man desperately trying to protect himself. A conservative group leader retreated for safety behind a line of riot police as marchers chucked water bottles, shot off pepper spray and screamed, “Fascist go home!”

All told, the Associated Press reported at least five individuals were attacked. An AP reporter witnessed the assaults. Berkeley Police’s Lt. Joe Okies told The Washington Post the rally resulted in “13 arrests on a range of charges including assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing a police officer, and various Berkeley municipal code violations.”

And that was merely one incident of a series of such violent clashes with antifa leading the way again and again.

Antifa seems to be having virtually zero involvement with these BLM protests. It's interesting that the minds of right-wingers can't seem to cope with this reality.

In related news I see that a man who broke shop windows at an otherwise peaceful protest, who was chased off by the peaceful protesters for his criminal actions, turned out to be an undercover white-supremacist trying to incite racial violence.

From the Seattle Times - I would guess they would know a bit more about what's happening in Oregon than you do from your "across the pond" dwelling.

From Antifa to Mothers in Helmets, Diverse Elements Fuel Portland Protests

Demonstrators in Portland, including some who identify as antifa, the loose coalition of self-described anti-fascist activists, have had years of conflict with law enforcement. But after the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis set off a nationwide movement for racial justice and police accountability, the protest in Portland drew thousands to the streets.

Maybe Americans should realise that their nation was established by rebellion against the legal government and its representatives and that a great deal of violence was involved, and recognise this as part of their national DNA.

Why CP, do you think it is that Atty Gen Barr and Trump, not to mention Republicans in general, keep accusing Antifa, without substantiating it btw, when they are well aware that white supremicists are infiltrating the protests in order to cause violence and make it look as though the protesters are violent. Why do you think it is they wouldn't mention white supremecists at all, when they well know that they are involved?
