Just like his attempts to impose federal force into local law enforcement continues to telegraph Trumps authoritarian bent, so now the are significant concerns that he will defy an election result where he loses. Well now he takes another step in his inexorable march to dictator by proposing a 'delay' in the 2020 election.

It doesn't matter why he would do it, it doesn't matter if he fails to do it, the fact he is trying to do it is sufficient. The traitors to this nation that routinely justify Trump's excess will likely support this as well. And I have no interest whatsoever in their justifications. What I want to be is on record with the simple fact that I've warned you about this president from day 1. And as an election nears that he will lose unless he cheats in some form or fashion, how far he will go to retain his power will become more and more evident as the days progress.

He has proposed removing term limits. He has infiltrated the DOJ with Cronies willing to do his bidding, to let his friends convictions by judge and jury be overlooked, to punish his enemies. He has put unvetted people beholden only to him in charge of the DHS and leveraged this already questionable agency's power into his own personal nationalized police force. He has gutted relations with NATO to the delight of Putin, and now is removing Troops from Germany. He has twice welcomed foreign powers that are our enemies to interfere on his behalf wrt our elections and done his best to deny their involvement. He has brought this nation to its knees by refusing to deal with the Covid Pandemic according to science and best practice. And now he is putting in to remove the most important element of our republic, free elections themselves.

He is a traitor to and a clear and present danger to this nation.

This is not his first effort to cement his position as president for life. I urge all of you that have a mind and have not been blinded by your hatred of liberalism to accept Trump's danger to our nation and our way of life to do all you legally can to make sure this man is out of office by January 2021. So your hysterical approach means you see everything in the worst possible light and add a bunch of not-much-at-alls together to make some conspiracy by a President you apparently think is both incompetent and borderline insane - yet somehow still a real chance of converting America from a Republic to a dictatorship after four years of solid opposition from most of the media, politicians inside his own party as well as outside, civil servants and intelligence operatives in high positions, the intelligentsia and about half of Americans, plus 'most of ' the Western world, China, a pandemic, etc etc.

IF Trump could actually pull off becoming President-or-lie in the face of all that, frankly we should all stand and applaud him.

Sorry, there are many with minds far more powerful than either yours or mine that are voicing the very same concerns. The two most significant concerns right now are the abuse of power through the DHS by mobilizing a federal Police force effectively under Trump's command through the DHS, and the consistent attempts to undermine the upcoming election, of which this latest salva is a part.

His incompetence has been on display consistently over the last 3+ years, but never so completely as in his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic. Insanity has never been my accusation, but he is driven by and drawn to autocratic tendencies, and he has undermined our relationship with NATO significantly and WRT NATO has adopted policies that could have been written by Putin and for Putin. He has consistently tried to work his way around constitutionally driven oversight and limitations on presidential power.

It is, unfortunately, a very real possibility that he will reject the election result if he loses and refuse to yield power to the rightful winner of the election. He certainly has set the sage for exactly such a move. Whether he can pull it off is yet to be seen. Our government is designed to prevent just exactly the sort of abuses of power Trump has engaged in throughout his presidency, and so far - because of a Republican led senate willing to compromise most of their principles - been able to get away with far more than what he should have been.

Nevertheless, wrt trying to put off the election it seems he's hit a wall. Some republicans at least have said - this is a step too far and made clear they will not support it. This is a good thing.

The problem is we still have to get past claims the election was compromised and a refusal to leave office, should that occur.

Mobilizing DHS forces in US cities is in fact setting the stage for him contesting the election and refusing to leave office - you just don't have enough of an understanding of history to realize that is one of the dangers of allowing him to do what he is doing to/with the DHS.

Playing dumb is not your forte.

Asking the question elicited a response and gets the idea out there. He now knows there will be significant push back that that moving the election is not a very good option because the only way it could happen would be to campaign forcefully for it. Asking a question is, in fact, one of Trump's go to forms of 'floating any potentially unpopular idea'. It allows him to get a response to an idea without ever formally proposing the idea while at the same time enlisting people like you in defending him - after all, he was 'just asking a question'.

Unfortunately you and most of the Trump supporters on this site do not understand that 'just asking a question' about an idea that would undermine our republic or election process is not an excusable action by the President of the United States. And why you and others can't figure that simple fact out is beyond me.
