To me it's summed up in that both the economy and the interests of society as a whole are run democratically. It's a system that promotes the "general welfare" not just the making of huge profits by the few.

What about the billionaires and the powerful rich? Should they have their wealth redistributed more equally to help the poor?

Wow, just ripped off some talking points, then disappeared - no questions.

There's no way she'll spark the necessary enthusiasm Biden needed, in spite of democratic elites want to believe. At best, the enthusiasm of Biden voters will remain static. At worse, she'll make it worse. Based on the potential influence of social media, and the fact they'll underscore her past, I go with the latter. The thing I fear the most is that they swap out Biden for Kam. I suspected this awhile ago, and I think there's still a chance this will happen. If Trump faces Kam in the debates, then we're 100% doomed.

There are millionaires and billionaires now, are there not? And we have socialism now, do we not? Democratic socialism doesn't prevent people from aquiring wealth, but there has to be more equity in the system. There has to be living wages, affordable healthcare, social security etc etc, or in other words the government must promote the general welfare of all the people and if that means higher taxes on the super wealthy then so be it. If that's what you mean by wealth redistribution to help the poor, then absolutely. Democratic socialism to me is nothing more than regulated capitalism and to achieve that there needs to be representative democracy, not democracy according to the wealthy.

Biden wants enthusiasm, but he probably doesn't need it.

Another article on 538 notes that right now Trump is pretty much at an identical odds of winning as he was this time last election. I.E. something like 30 percent chance. But hey, feel free to take Biden's 'victory' for granted, folks. Just don't come crying like y'all did after Hillary lost.

And I'm not sure why it's a hard concept for him to figure out polls don't necessarily mean folks will actually vote.

Can you demonstrate that anyone is taking Biden's victory for granted, or are you just shadow-boxing?

                          • The MSM is once again proclaiming what a moderate she is like they do concerning the Democrat nominees every election -- even when it is blatantly obvious that they aren't.

They did that with Kerry and Edwards in 2004 despite both conservative and liberal sources agreeing that they ranked first and third in the Senate for having the most liberal voting record (Ted Kennedy ranked second).

As for Harris, she has the most liberal voting record in the Senate today -- even being to the left of Bernie Sanders!

I'm always still in trouble again

Jim, we don't have democratic socialism now. We have a mostly free-market capitalist economy. The whole spiel of Bernie Sanders was that we shouldn't have billionaires and that the workers need to own the companies and not have super rich CEOs. He used to complain that we don't need any millionaires, but then be became one himself, so that was suddenly OK.

Under democratic socialism, the big corporations would be owned by the workers who would evenly distribute the profits among themselves. Any one who is considered "rich" would be taxed until they weren't. No more "1%"
