Fetal Murder Upheld by Courts
It's only a matter of time now before we come to our senses and realize that abortion doctors are guilty of nothing less than 1st degree murder.

- I doubt that. This decision is being highly criticized even now because it takes the POV that human beings exist from the moment of conception, and that just isn't true.
- Let's hope intellectuals get hold of our government before we burn too many doctors at the stake for 1st degree murder."In better times, we even had laws prohibiting homosexual behavior enev [sic] though we had the Bill of Rights at that time." - Kewlie

April 6th 2004, 11:02 AM #4So what you are saying is that at the point of conception, human beings do not exist? At any point after conception, what we have is a human being. That human being is merely at a different stage of development. There is no way to avoid that reality.

- At the point of conception, the egg and sperm cell do not equal a human being, correct. So what you are saying is that at the point of conception, human beings do not exist?
- Sure there is: human beings require a functional brain that allows sentience. A blastocyst lacks this.At any point after conception, what we have is a human being. Don't get your hopes up. Laws like this have existed for a long time, and to tell you the truth it's hard to find fault with most of them. I don't like murderers, and people who murder pregnant women seem just plain cowardly. This seems rather silly though. If he didn't know, the act couldn't have been directed at the fetus. A real headscratcher.

April 6th 2004, 01:27 PM #7Of course there is no way to avoid that reality. The human being goes through stages of development that include just life and evolve to human life.

April 6th 2004, 01:42 PM #8No, before conception, the egg and sperm cells do not equal a human being. At the point of conception, they combine and are no longer egg and sperm cells - they then and thereafter equal a human being.

Says who? What oriface did you pull that definition out of?- Sure there is: human beings require a functional brain that allows sentience.
Hmm... "...that allows sentience." Do you mean just the potential for sentience?
So? As Blemonds said, it's at a different stage of development.A blastocyst lacks this.GONE FOR GOOD BECAUSE THE MODS ARE FRICKIN' RETARDS

April 6th 2004, 01:46 PM #9Jimmy, the completed DNA of the unborn child from conception onward unequivocally proves it's human, and no one in their right mind would say that it's not alive, thus it is a human life.

Oh, oh, I have an idea! Let's start up another thread that debates the exact same thing about the merits of pro-life vs. pro-choice viewpoints!

From then after they equal a zygote. A zygote is a single cell. What you're suggesting is along the same lines as giving a paramecium voting rights.

Err... I have a 16 year old son who can't vote. Can HE be aborted?
The point is that children slowly gain rights as they mature and are able to handle them. However, there are fundamental rights we extend to all children, including the right to life. There is no basis for denying the unborn this right to life.
