Re: Parent's Brag Thread
I have 3 children. My oldest is 11 (Dianel), my second (Ryan) and my youngest will be 3 inJanuary (Paige).
Diane is my artist and foo-foo girl. She''s playing violin this year and is a natural at it!
Ryan is my future politician or used car sales man. He argues the point with everything.
He's a good boy who is sweet and gets his feelings hurt esy.
Paige is my trouble maker. She learned how to undo the child safety locks at 18 months of age.
Funny story with Ryan. Whe he was about 3, I took him and Diane to Midnight Mass (held on Christms Eve). We were all sitting there, the kids, my mother, her mother and myself. Hte kids were being soooo good and I was so proud of them (this was thier first Mass to attend)! We got to the part we prayed. WE all brought down the kneelers and started praying. As with all Catholic hurches it's so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Ryan turns around and yells, "Hey! You aren't supposed to sleep in church!" Mortified, I turned around to see who he was yelling at...it was a lady about my grandmother's age and she was laughing with the rest of the congregation (and even the priest). During the sermon, the priest stopped in the middle of his speech, pointed to our area where were sitting and said, "And you better not be sleeping, too!"
Both Diane and Ryan... When I was a single mom, I went to school full time and held down a full time job (and the kids were still basically toddlers). Needless to say that by the time the weekend rolled aroudn, I was wiped. Our usual routine was to get up, have breakfast (while I studied), wither go to the park or watch a movie together, and then they would take their naps while I studied some more. This particular afternoon was very rainy, so I popped in a movie, cuddled up on the couch with both of them and got comfortable to watch a Disney cartoon. I remember the opening credits...the next I saw was the grey snow on the TV and no kids anywhere. I ran upstairs to find them in the bathroom. Diane had her Lego bucket and was pouring water all over the bathroom floor, there was over an inch on the floor already. Ryan was picking sopping wet stuffed animals off the floor and placing them on the toilet lid. Totally shocked and not thinking, I screamed, "What on Holy {blank} are you doing??!!!" They both stopped in midstride and Diane smiled and innocently remarked, "Playing Noah's Ark, Mommy!" I honestly did not know weather to beat them senseless or praise them for aying attention in Sunday school! I had to walk out of the room until I quit laughing.

A couple of questions from an inquisitive 5 year old:
"If my heart breaks, will I die?"
While drinking a glass of milk: "Why can I not drink the bubbles?"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. My kids are 12, 11, 11, and 7. The oldest and youngest are boys, and the twins are girls. They have really excelled in the sport of bowling. yes, bowling is a sport, and they truely do enjoy it!
They are currently in teh middle of the summer league here, but have already earned serveral awards (patches). My youngest bowled a high game of 135 this league!
I don't know what the other averages are.

Re: Parent's Brag Thread
I miss my kids.
I had to leave them in Okinawa for about 4 months while I undergo some training/schooling on teh east coast.
my youngest calls me every day! it's awesome! They're doing pretty good without me around, but it's hard on them, I know.
they called the other day and told me how great they did at bowling. My youngest received an award for bowling a 300 series, and my girls both bowled really good games, but I can't remember what awards they received that day. and my oldest, well, his bowling team is in first place!
I am so proud of them. I think they'll all qualify for the Pepsi tournament on Okinawa again this year. and maybe the other one, but I don't remember what it was called

I haven't been been able to add to this as my digital camera is missing. But we try to get the kids' picture (taken together) done each Easter time. We did it today (4/7/07). Katelyn's hair is sticking up a bit sitting so close to Marc, but it turned out terrific. Marc is 5 1/2 and Katelyn is 3.

This is a pic of my daughter Jennifer. She was busy crawling around the carport where my hubby and I were working and the next thing we know she is busy sticking her finger in the exhaust pipe. On closer inspection we could see a round mark on her forehead where she had bumped into the exhaust pipe. It was really funny we had to take a picture.

Re: Parent's Brag Thread
My oldest is in 3rd grade at a school for gifted kids. There were only 5 spots open when he tested for the program last school year. Over 300 kids tested, and my son got in. Recently, we got the news that his school ranked number 6 in the State of Illinois on the ISAT tests. (number 1in our area) I just had a parent/teacher conference and the teacher said that my son has a very dry and sophisticated sense of humor for his age and often makes her laugh; even though the other kids don't even catch on to his jokes. She said he's very well behaved and sweet.
Have I gushed enough?
Anyway...here are the test scores for his school. I just can't believe how well all these kids are doing!

My 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son are awesome as well, of course.
