A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
God, in your strength I can…
Whatsoever you sow that shall you also reap. I don’t think you’ll ever find more bittersweet words than those 8 words. If it wasn’t for the fact that we live out the consequences of our choices we could remove the word “bitter” and see them only as sweet words. While it is true because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross we worship a forgiving God however the same cannot be said for life it can be very unforgiving. The following verses from Psalms 18 ARE eye-opening life changing words of repentance to each and every person on this planet.
“I am blameless before God; I have kept myself from sin. The LORD rewarded me for doing right. He has seen my innocence. To the faithful You show Yourself faithful; to those with integrity You show integrity. To the pure You show Yourself pure, but to the wicked You show Yourself hostile. You rescue the humble, but You humiliate the proud. You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness. In Your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. God's way is perfect. All the LORD's promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection.” (Psalms 18:23-30 NLT)
The Psalmist tells what we must do to be blameless before God, “I have kept myself from sin.” Yet whether we want to admit it or not sin is a part of our lives but with a relationship with Jesus when keep ourselves from sin yet under great duress fall and sin we can repent whereby Jesus’ sacrifice makes us blameless. That is what the Psalmist means when he writes, “The LORD rewarded me for doing right,” because repenting when we fall is the RIGHT thing to do. (On a side note – repenting also leads to making amends.)
There are three words that are standout-take-notice-and-must-do words for all people – “IN YOUR STRENGTH,” they are reminiscent of what Paul wrote to the Philippians. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13 NLT) We MUST deny our own strength and rely on God!
Yesterday as I listened to the results of my annual breathing test I not only heard my Pulmonary Doctor tell me my lung capacity had fallen to 61% I also felt the presence of the Holy Spirit reminding me of that the LORD said to me 3 years ago after I was told I have Pulmonary Fibrosis, “Gary,” the Holy Spirit said, “this will not end in your death.” Therefore, “With my God I can scale any wall.”
God is faithful for that reason those who are faithful to God have freedom from fear!
Believe it! Experience it!
