      Problems within Immigration

I have been traveling the world for nearly 2 decades and I am always distressed when I arrive back to America. It never fails. Once I arrive to the immigration inspection area I witness total chaos. People-foreign nationals & citizens all in one big line with no clear organization. No wonder America was attacked on 9/11, we were incapable at the immigration level to stop the terrorists because the immigration capabilities are a joke. Masses of people usually converge upon the immigration/customs area and they are quickly pushed through with little or no checks.

I arrived back from Germany a few days ago and couldn't believe that the foreign nationals were getting through immigration faster then those of us who were citizens of the US. Don't they bother checking some of these foreign nationals?

These are some observations I have witnessed. Any thoughts?
Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed. So there was great joy in that city.

The cold truth is, unless we want to become a fortress/prison, dedicated terrorists will be able to get through our borders. We need to hit the terrorists where they live, and solve the problems that create them. Then, perhaps, we won't be so afraid, or xenophobic.
      Meh.

I hear what you are saying Freak. I returned from Germany in 1989 with some friends and one them had lost his passport. He was let through basically because he said "no really, I'm an American! Really, I am." With no further check. That's a little scary. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want him to get turned away, but still, a little more hassle for him would have been appropriate.

One thing I don't get either is how people ignore the "illegal" in the term "illegal alien." What's not to understand about illegal?

Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz

I think we should let more people in. Alot of these people aren't terrorists, or mooches trying to abuse the system. They want ot be Americans, work in America, and I think we should give them the chance.
      Meh.

Freak has obviously never been on the pointy end of the INS.

I can assure you, if they feel like it, they'll put you through the wringer.

The same way so many ignore the real cause of the illegal immigrants: outlaw employers who wilfully ignore the law forbidding them to hire employees who cannot prove citizenship/legal residency.
The same way politicians and reich-wing talking heads ignore these outlaw employers.

The law is less important than their deity: Moremoneymoremoneymoremoney.

      Re: Problems within Immigration

I was detained entering Canada in the 80's cause when they asked my country of origin, I said "Texas"

They asked me again, and I didn't get the problem, and said "Texas"

      So he said pull over

Well, it took me about 15 min to realize they wanted me to say the United States

They thought this was pretty funny, and that I was drunk = p

Unfortunately, this is because when you cross into Mexico, and they ask your country of origin, and you say "Texas" they say Okay....

Clearly, Mexico recognizes the independence of Texas and the Canadians do not.

Anyway I have never had any issues on any borders other than that, and we go to Mexico, and I haven't really seen any major problems, but we don't cross in El Paso nor in the middle of the desert.

If you want to know what I think the real cause of our immigration problem is it is twofold.

      1. The Mexican property laws, the Mexican economy, the Mexican heirarchical social system and graft ridden political/law enforcement system.

      2. The American economy.

Since you're from Texas, you will get this joke I heard. I've been dying to tell it to someone who can "get" the joke.

This tv satirical skit of a man promoting his He-man spa where you can bulk up and be a stud. Or something along those lines.
      anyway
The location of this luxury spa is "on the Juarez side of the Texas Riviera"
