April 2nd 2003, 01:29 PM #46That is not only a low blow, but completely insensitive and wrong to say!!! You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking such a thing!Today @ 12:25 PM post located here

Combined with your earlier statement for your advocacy of pornography and your marital status you have thus proven pornography breaks up families as you have none for your self to speak of.

April 2nd 2003, 01:32 PM #47I do not have a family because I have some difficulty with social situations. But you can be assured that this has nothing to do with pornography, since I have been the same since I was a child.Today @ 05:25 PM post located here

What is the percentage of successful marriages that have included porn at one time or another verses the successful marriages that had no porn involved?
Then what is the percentage of failed marriages verses porn being a significant reason for it against failed marriages where porn had nothing to do with it?"I am an alien spouse of female military personnel en route to the United States under public law 271 of the Congress." - Capt. Henri Rochard

I did. Its on page 3. I admit there is a bit of arbitrariness to it, but as an atheist, we must be illogical I guess as to how we enforce morality. Now are you going to keep dodging or will you reply to my post #38?

April 2nd 2003, 01:50 PM #52Only according to you not the rest of the internet community.
Ok thanks the thread got bumped so I missed it.I did. Its on page 3. I admit there is a bit of arbitrariness to it, but as an atheist, we must be illogical I guess as to how we enforce morality.
As for:
That is according to your standards but you say "probably" which in your own words you can not truly defend cause you yourself are not clear on it.Today @ 09:28 AM post located here
Jimmy Higgins:
Any sort of sexual relation between an adult and anyone at or under the age of 16 is certainly not probably of decent consent.
Again according to your arbiturary standards that just before this you can not define nor defend. The people involved, both child and adult may say there is consent, but that just isn't going to cut it.
You fail to reason that NAMBLA advocates 8 year olds not high school students, so according to NAMBLA 8 year olds are capable of consenting. Your word against theirs however you are unable to make a definitive age consent and unable to defend why you think a certain age is appropriate so looks like NAMBLA has the upper hand against Jimmy Higgins' moral laws. The motives of a person of NAMBLA are perfectly clear and therefore are illegitmate! Freshmen in high school are not capable of properly comprehending sexual consent with a 30 year old adult. Anyone under that age is grossly incapable of such consent!
I can mean anything I want cause either word is not found in the dictionary.Actually you mean pedophilephobe.
You assume a vast majority in Jimmy Higgins' world. Many cultures throughout history and even up to today have marriages with 20-30 year old men with 10-13 year old women. Are these men vile monsters because the vast majority in their culture practice that form of marriage rituals? The vast majority of people love children, they just think that having sex with them is grossly indecent and wrong! And in that opinion, I think we are right in protecting the children from monsters that want to use them as toys.
You disregarded who I was referring to in my original quote. I didn't make the jump.......you did from your "consenting" statement that all is fair game. But where is the connection between pornography and child abuse. I still don't see how you can make that jump.

I would rather not go where Jimmy's remarks leads as he disregarded the flood gates of the interpretation of "consenting" such that how old is a child required to be consenting or animals?Have you the brain worms?!

Paul,
No I do not have any links or anything for you. Sorry. How is pornography a leading cause of the breakup of families?
Have you any evidence that this is the case?
Although I have heard on numerous occasions statistics which show a link between involvement in porn and divorce, and it is not hard to see why this would be so. I just don't have access to these statistics which I have heard so often. Rats!

April 2nd 2003, 06:09 PM #55What do you mean by "involvement in porn?" Are you talking about people obsessed with viewing porn to the point that it upsets the family balance, or are you talking about people who are actively involved in the porn industry (models, actors, filmmakers, etc.)?Today @ 04:06 PM post located here

But I think that most men would stop looking at porn rather than have their marriage end in divorce - unless there was some other underlying problem with the marriage that wasn't being taken into account.

April 3rd 2003, 03:09 AM #58That's because in popular usage, the prefix "homo" has been contexualized to refer to homosexuals. But in popular usage, the prefix "pedo" still refers to "child" not to "child molester." It's extremely commonplace to hear someone say, "Look at those homos over there!" How often do you hear someone say, "That dude's a pedo?"Today @ 01:01 AM post located here

Just as an interesting sidenote that has little to do with anything, clinically it is discouraged to refer to sexual attraction to underage post-pubescent adolescents as "pedophelia." It is instead called alternately "hebephelia" or "ephebophelia." Just FYI for the curious.

E,
I was thinking of the formor although obviously the latter is not exactly going to be the best thing for families since sliced bread.:brow:What do you mean by "involvement in porn?" Paul,
Don't you think a secular household would be negatively affected by the father having an addiction to porn, as well?I could understand how porn might play a part in extremely religious households, where the wife finds her husband has been viewing porn and objects strongly on religious grounds.
Perhaps, but that assumes that once found out it would not already by too late. But I think that most men would stop looking at porn rather than have their marriage end in divorce - unless there was some other underlying problem with the marriage that wasn't being taken into account.
