Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
    God is our crutch?

“Only God gives inward peace, and I depend on him. God alone is the mighty rock that keeps me safe, and he is the fortress where I feel secure. God saves me and honors me. He is that mighty rock where I find safety. Trust God, my friends, and always tell him each one of your concerns. God is our place of safety… I heard God say two things: "I am powerful, and I am very kind." The Lord rewards each of us according to what we do.” (Psalms 62:5-8, 11-12 CEV)

Among the happiest times of my life are those times when following hip surgery I could put my crutches in the closet and walk on my own. I remember feeling frightened the first time I had surgery in 1983 and the surgeon told me I could walk on my own, in fact I left the examination room using crutches. When we walked into the waiting area Patti told me I didn’t need them anymore so holding my breath I took them out from under my arms and cautiously took my first step. And while I limped it was one of the happiest days of my life I could walk again on my own!

The other day while thanking God for all different ways He has blessed me, in my prayer I referred to Him as becoming a crutch for me because I depend on Him so much. I am not sure God wants or desires to be referred to as a crutch but through my experiences during the 14 hip surgeries and my dependency on crutches (walkers and a cane) not only to walk but to keep myself protected from further injury that describes Him.

Even though God as a crutch may sound a little crude and undignified never-the-less Psalms 54:4 reads, “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” (Psalms 54:4 ESV) And if the Psalmist refers to God as a helper I guess I can say, “Behold, God is my crutch; the Lord is the upholder of my life.”

And I’ll even go one better than that! “Behold, God is OUR crutch; the Lord is the upholder of OUR life!” You may never have had to walk use crutches in order to walk but there have been many times you’ve had to depend on him and if you’re anything like me you’ll need to depend on him the rest of your life!

And if that is not enough consider this, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help (crutch) in trouble.” (Psalms 46:1 ESV)

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE!
    Gary

Amen Gary! I can indeed relate to your words.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)
