By which you mean mortars and RPGs, not the mid-range rockets that Iron Dome can shoot down, yes?
    Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

Why would terrorist necessarily limit their weapons options when a lovely military target presents itself? Is the Iron Dome geared to provide protection both to civilians and troops when troops are moving out? I wouldn't think it would be.

I meant to suggest that it is here that concerns (raised by BTC, etc) about mortars and RPGs make the most sense.

The rockets they shoot at Israel aren't accurate enough.

Citations? The rockets have a flat trajectory, and they're fired with no assigned target. In short, the defenders can't predict where a rocket will land. Unless they are clearly not going to hit a populated area, Iron Dome will be deployed. It also takes a minimum 3 minutes to target and destroy the rockets.

                    • Nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki seemed to do the trick for the US. Hit them hard enough, and they won't be able to retaliate.
They couldn't retaliate before Hiroshima. If Japan was believed to have any capacity to even defend itself, do you really think a sole bomber with nothing more than two camera planes as escort would have been despatched? If Japan had any capacity at all for self defence, fighter planes would have been in escort. No capacity for self defence, even less for offence.
It is reported that even Woodrow Wilson admitted that, had the allies lost the war, actions in Japan (including but not restricted to the A-bombs) would have seen Allied leaders defending themselves in Nuremburg.

In which case these retaliatory bombardments might be seen as suppressing fire.
