PC And Console Game Reviews From A Christian Perspective
A couple of links to PC And Console Game Reviews From A Christian Perspective:

Reading the Doom III Review at http://www.christiananswers.net/spot...004/doom3.html causes me to feel like less of a Christian. But i think the neutral user review at the bottom makes a good point. i picked up a copy thinking of Doom III as virtual spiritual warfare for mature adult minds capable of seperating facts from fiction. It's not a game for everyone, and i wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, but then i probably wouldn't recommend many an R movie to just anyone either.
Actually, in watching my brother play the game, i got to thinking about what Hell might be like...and perhaps if we had a better idea of what Hell will be like...it might scare the Hell out of us! i don't think Hell will be a cool place. i hear the responses already...yes, i would rather think about Heaven (as difficult as that may be), but many of us have to go through a personal Hell to some extent before we arrive at the pearly gates leading to Paradise.

I tend to pick my games based on their quality and not their so-called Christian content (or lack thereof), so I'll probably stick with Gamespy for my reviews. I'll have to check out those sites, though, and I hope that they don't just condemn games based on the level of violence in them.

Diablo II got me thinking about hell when my character finally got there, but for the most part I agree with LS

Re: PC And Console Game Reviews From A Christian Perspective
I don't like shooters all that much. When I play games solo, I prefer games with a slower pace, like adventure games, or those with a strategic element, like RTS. The Thief series is about the only action game I've really enjoyed. Thief III is nicely done, and I'm enjoying it, but it lacks a certain sarcastic shtick that made the earlier versions so memorable. (The new version is a little too real.)
When I play games online, I like RPG with some persistent elements, though I prefer games with "open source" worlds over centralized massively multiplayer worlds (I'm a Neverwinter-Nights-a-holic).
Unfortunately, one of my favorite genres is all but dead in its computer form: old-fashioned, hex-map, grognard-style wargames.

i'm the same way. The past few years i've had subscriptions to: Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro, PC Gamer, and Computer Gaming World. i mainly subcribed to them for the reviews...in order to sift the wheat from the chaff.
For online reviews i like GameSpot or IGN....but i've found Gamespy to be a good resource too. i've thought about subscribing to FilePlanet....
i generally avoid games which rank below an 8 on a scale of 10. As far as the condemnation of video games is concerned, i think for the most part, it's ridiculously ignorant and hypocritical. Anybody old enough to read the rating on the box should know what to expect with a game like Doom III. But i think many folks have awaken and smelled the coffee since the days of Doom, Duke Nukem, and Mortal Kombat.Romans 1:20 "Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Yes. It helps that video games have a very in-depth rating system, praised by that old video game foe Joe Lieberman himself!

i even bought a couple of Diablo II action figures (hey they were on sale for like $4).
Actually, they're two of the coolest action figures i've ever owned (the Mcfarlane Metal Gear Solid figures i sold were impressive too though).

We all have a few action figure skeletons in our closet. I bought the "Ichabod Crane" action figure from the Tim Burton version of "Sleepy Hollow."
I also have a nearly complete set of figures from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" that I got as a Christmas gift (I took Yukon Cornelius to work last Christmas as desk ornament).
I'm profoundly sorry I missed out on buying any "Nightmare Before Christmas" figures; I just wasn't into it at the time.

i like shooters, but from the time i first played StarCraft, i've loved the RTS genre. Age of Empires II, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, and WarCraft III are among the few i own. According to the reviews Rise of Nations is excellent, now if i could break down and buy a copy.

You might like the Aliens Vs Preadator 2 PC game...because of the different strategies involved with playing as different characters... i just received a copy i ordered, and the price is right.

i should get into that game (Neverwinter Nights)...i'm thinking it would be best if i get the expansions for it though before getting seriously addicted...

Did you try Morrowind? i've played it briefly...the game looks fantastic and reminds me of the King's Field games for the PS1.
i can only remember playing one hex-map wargame, a long time ago on the 8-bit NES. But yeah, i think your right.
