i've decided that i'm willing to be "unequally yoked"
...to the right person.
All that i ask it that she respect my beliefs and i'll do my best to respect hers. i understand there would be times when our differences of belief would become a conflicting issue, but i think with the right person, we could work it out. i'm 29 years old folks and i don't have any plans on changing anytime soon (knowing my plans have changed in the past due to this or that whether i planned them or not)...and yes, i would always hope for her to change, but i would also have to be willing to live with the possibility that she doesn't change...and love her just the same.
Anywho, now that i've opened a can of worms, i'm...

Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." - NKJV

Seriously dude, that's not a good idea. You need to be able to pray with your wife. My wife is divorcing me, and there are a lot of things we messed up, and lack of spiritual connection was one of them. I'm not trying to scare you, and I know it gets lonely, but don't sell yourself short. God is looking out!

A4H, I can relate. I often wonder if I would do the same if the option was available.
If I have a mystical experience, an experience that's so overwhelming that I know now that there's a God, the cognitive fallout from that is irrelevant. The fact that that experience can be explained by psychologists in numerous ways is irrelevant to the fact that I now know.

Re: i've decided that i'm willing to be "unequally yoked"
Very few things in this life are guaranteed, and the divorce rate is high even among Christians. My sister, a Christian, has been divorced two times. The second divorce happened after 14 yrs of marriage. My ex-brother-in-law left her for another woman, and has since regretted it. My uncle, a Christian, had to divoce his wife because she left him (for a younger man) after 33 years of marriage. Come to find out, she had been cheating on him for years with her boss! If she doesn't regret it by now, she will later, because she had a good husband.

The only couple i know of, who met in Church, were my grandma and grampa on my dad's side of the family. They were married until my grandpa died (for 50+ years).
Anyway, i've decided that love can overcome differences.
*i made a correction. i think my sister is now in her third marriage.*Last edited by Calvinist4Him; September 7th 2004 at 09:37 PM.

A4H, please don't keep thinking that time is running out for you. My husband and I were married when he was 28, and my son is that age now, and has never even had one girlfriend. He is lonely too, sometimes, but realizes that the Lord's timing is not his, and whatever God has in store for him is the best plan, not necessarily what he himself wants.
And, BTW, I met my husband in church, and you already know that we have been married for going on 32 years.......
There is a plan for you......God has promised so.....Jeremiah 29:11 says......
See? Plans for a future! And a hope!'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
So, I encourage you...... don't accept what might be second-best! Wait for whatever God's best for you might be......as long as it might take.......
I am praying for you, sweetie......and I am old enough to call you that.........hang in there, and let God do the matchmaking for you......
Securely anchored to the Rock against every storm of trial, testing and tribulation.

Anyway, 29 is not old. I got married at 35, it's more fun when you are two grown ups who actually understand their strengths and weaknesses.
